WrestleMania 28: Daniel Bryan and Wrestlers on the Rise

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

WrestleMania is a time where new stars begin their ascent to the top. It is the show where Steve Austin took Bret Hart to the limit in a Submission Match in one of the best matches in WWE history.

Not everyone has the ability of Austin, nor will they be working with an opponent like Hart, but the general idea is there.

This year's show has a number of performers who are starting to showcase their true potential in the ring. As long as they are given a chance to succeed on the card, they will turn a lot of heads in WWE.

Here are the stars ready to see their stock move up as WrestleMania 28 approaches.

Daniel Bryan

Not only does Daniel Bryan get a match at WrestleMania, he is defending the World Heavyweight Championship against Sheamus.

It has been a long, strange journey for Bryan in WWE, but he has finally found his niche. He was always one of the best workers in the company; anyone who saw his work in Ring of Honor could attest to that.

Now Bryan gets the chance to showcase his ability on the biggest stage wrestling has to offer. Even if he loses to Sheamus, which is the most-likely scenario, Bryan will come out of this whole scenario looking like a bigger star than ever before.

Dolph Ziggler

Even though Ziggler has been given the shaft from the creative team in recent months, I, like so many of you, still believe in his abilities in the ring and on the microphone to be a big star in WWE.

One reason that Ziggler will see his stock climb at WrestleMania is because of the team that he is on. Even in a "nothing match," which is what this battle for control of RAW and SmackDown between Teddy Long and John Laurinaitis is, someone can come out looking good.

All signs point to Laurinaitis' team winning the match, so then it becomes a matter of figuring out who will score the victory. Christian and Jack Swagger are not going to get it, because they never win matches.

Mark Henry could, though the bloom appears to be off that rose after he was sacrificed for Rock and John Cena last week. David Otunga is a dork, but because he is Laurinaitis' sidekick, they might put him over.

The two spots left are Ziggler and the yet-to-be-determined sixth man, which could be Alberto Del Rio.

Del Rio was a favorite of creative last year, but not so much before he got hurt. Ziggler is the choice, and he should be the one.

Cody Rhodes

The Intercontinental Champion has been on the rise for a long time. He is still trying to find his true niche as a performer, but his in-ring work has been very good and he can get a good match out of Big Show if given enough time.

Therein lies the problem with this particular match. No one is really invested in it. It just feels like a match to get these two on the show, which is the same thing you could say about the 12-man tag-team match.

As long as it is given eight to 10 minutes to tell a story and get over, Rhodes will keep his upward momentum going. If it is just a three-minute match that no one cares about, everything will fall apart.

I hope the former will happen for the sake of the match and Rhodes.
