WrestleMania 28 Card: The Undertaker Should Retire After Hell in a Cell Match

Adam WellsJun 7, 2018

The Undertaker is one of the greatest WWE stars of all time. He has had the single greatest gimmick that the company has ever come up with, and his WrestleMania streak has become a bigger deal than the WWE championship match. But the time has come for him to hang up his boots.

Even though Undertaker's schedule and body allow him to just work one match every year, the time has come for the Dead Man to make sure that he doesn't overstay his welcome.

Some might say that Undertaker can come and go as he pleases. He is still entertaining enough when he comes back, but this WrestleMania season has shown us that he is a shell of his former self.

Despite never being the best promo guy in the world, Undertaker's problems on the microphone have never been more evident than in the build to his match with Triple H. He has lost his train of thought multiple times, and he just doesn't have the same presence he once did.

If that isn't bad enough, time has taken its toll on Undertaker's body. He was always one of the more athletic big men that WWE had, but he is going to be 47 years old, and his back and knees are completely shot. He can't do a lot of the things he used to do.

Even looking at his match with Triple H last year, as great as it was, it was one of the slowest matches you will ever see because neither star had the stamina to do anything else.

By going over in this match, which should be very good because of the storyline drama that will play out, Undertaker would run his WrestleMania streak to 20-0. It is a nice, round number to walk away from.

Plus, if he tries to come back next year, you have to wonder if the high standard that Undertaker matches have had since the first Shawn Michaels match in 2009 would be met with a new opponent.

The popular choice for an opponent will be Brock Lesnar, but he hasn't wrestled a WWE-style match since 2004. He has had health problems of his own, so how much would these two really be able to give?

Undertaker has nothing left to prove after he defeats Triple H. He has plenty of money, so he doesn't keep coming back for that.

Getting The Streak to 20-0 should be the end of the Undertaker era in WWE. It has been one hell of a ride, but one that needs to be done sooner rather than later.
