Tim Tebow: Why Jaguars Must Ditch Blaine Gabbert and Land Native Son
The Tim Tebow era has come to an abrupt ending, and now it’s time for him to go home.
Despite signing Chad Henne to a recent two-year deal, the Jacksonville Jaguars should be at the front of the line to sign the 24-year-old.
The Jags need to sell tickets to ensure the franchise isn’t shipped to Los Angeles. Tebow can single-handedly allow the organization to uncover tarps that drape the upper deck of EverBank Field. That’s how popular he is in not just the Sunshine State, but this specific region.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Owner Shad Khan admitted that he would have drafted Tebow if he was in charge back in 2010 because he understands the financial ramifications.
So what is standing in the way?
The No. 10 pick of the 2011 draft, Blaine Gabbert.
He averaged 147 passing yards per game and had four contests where he didn’t even reach the 100-yard mark. And it’s not like it was a small-sample size: He played in 15 games last year.
He is timid in the pocket and bails at the first sign of a pass-rush. He doesn’t have a strong arm and isn’t very athletic. If anything, he regressed throughout the season. There was nothing positive to take away from his rookie year. Sure he is still only 22, but he is a project that is still another two years away from being a competent QB.
This isn’t a guy that is worth skipping Tebow for.
The signing of Henne is for backup purposes only. The Jags wanted a guy that could “push” Gabbert. Regardless of if the team lands Tebow or not, Henne is not going to stand in the way of landing the “Mile High Messiah.”
Tebow already has a playoff win and brought a team back from the dead. He showed significant improvements, unlike Gabbert, and will do whatever is asked of him.
The Jags need a face of the franchise, and Tebow is the perfect fit. It doesn’t matter what GM Gene Smith thinks, this is Khan’s team and he wants to make sure his team isn’t going anywhere.
The solution is easy: Toss a second-round pick at Denver for the hometown hero.
