Philadelphia Eagles: A Brief Review of Their Offseason so Far
The Philadelphia Eagles are moving way differently in the 2012 NFL offseason than they did last year.
In a frenzy fortnight, back in the summer of 2011, the Eagles signed Cullen Jenkins, Jason Babin, Nnamdi Asomugha, Vince Young, Steve Smith and Ronnie Brown, winning the “free-agency champion” title and showing their intention to go all the way.
Vince Young called Philadelphia the “dream team” of the NFL; however, the season turned out to be a nightmare. After a .500 record, the Eagles didn’t even make the postseason, and the dreadful team performance almost cost Andy Reid his job.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
This year, the Eagles decided to change their offseason strategy. Instead of hunting big names in the free agency, they opted to re-sign their key players, before taking a look at the market.
Todd Herremans and Trent Cole got extended contracts, DeSean Jackson was re-signed on a long-term deal and so was Evan Mathis.
Additionally, the Eagles sent Winston Justice to the Colts, alongside a sixth-round pick and got a higher pick in the same round.
The only issues that remain on the “things-to-do” list of the Eagles is extend LeSean McCoy’s contract, sign Trevor Laws or/and Derek Landri, and of course, adding a veteran linebacker who can be the leader of the defense. They can add a safety too, but it doesn’t look like they plan for something like that.
Undoubtedly, the Eagles have been quiet; nevertheless, they have been successful in addressing their “inner” issues. They are just a couple of moves away from assembling a talented roster with strong players at every position.
The free-agency market is still open and the NFL draft a month ahead of us. Despite the fact that the Eagles have not rocked the league with their offseason moves, they have given their fans a reason to be optimistic.
