WWE Raw/SmackDown: William Regal Should Be Announcing on the Main Shows
There is a lot of talk in WWE these days regarding members of a "dying breed."
Chris Jericho, Undertaker and Triple H have all made reference to being the most established veterans in WWE recently, but there is one guy who has been around longer than any of them.
William Regal first debuted in wrestling in 1983, one year before Undertaker, seven before Jericho and a full decade before Triple H.

Regal's worldwide experience makes him one of the most well-rounded competitors in WWE, and his influence on guys like Daniel Bryan and CM Punk is seen in their matches and heard in their recognition and admiration of his talents.
Regal was actually very instrumental in training Bryan, as was referenced by Punk many times while he was doing commentary for Raw while injured.
Regal is an outstanding in-ring competitor who has already earned his spot in just about every wrestling Hall of Fame that could ever exist, but recently he has begun to gain acclaim for something a little different.
Regal has been announcing and playing the GM for WWE on shows like NXT, Superstars and their developmental territory Florida Championship Wrestling, and he has been acknowledged by fans as being both funny and insightful.
Regal recently had the privilege to call an FCW show alongside one of the best in the history of business, Jim Ross. Ross recently updated his Blog over at JrsBarBQ.com and here is what he had to say about working with Mr. Regal.
"How was it broadcasting with @RealKingRegal in FCW? As I mentioned, I had a blast. He's a true professional and is as good as any one currently on WWE programming. The Englishman is a great story teller plus he entertainingly can breakdown any bout from a strategy standpoint. Very dry wit and a wealth of in ring knowledge. Regal is a valuable asset for WWE.
"
Regal also chimed in on his Twitter with these thoughts on working with Jim Ross.
"A huge honour for me tonight getting to announce with JR Jim Ross at FCW. He was the first person to interview me on USA TV 19 years ago.
"
It sounds as if Regal was comfortable working with the veteran announcer and if the British brawler keeps getting better, then we could see him on one of the main shows calling matches sometime soon.
This is not to say WWE does not already have some great announcers, but there is always room for improvement.
Having Regal come to Raw or SmackDown would accomplish two things; bring some real credibility of a world-renowned wrestler to the table and bring in someone who has a great sense of humor and incredible mic skills.
Both Booker and Jerry Lawler also provide the experience of an in-ring competitor, but they have wrestled almost their whole careers in the United States.
Having Regal bring in an international view of wrestling would provide some great insight on things most US-based fans may not be familiar with.
I eagerly await the day that Regal is inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame, but until then, I think WWE fans would love the chance to see the the master of the Regal Stretch bring his talents to the Raw or SmackDown announce team.
What do you think? Should Regal be featured as one of the main broadcast team?
