NBA Trade Deadline 2012: Ranking the Top 5 Players Dealt at the Deadline

Haddon AndersonJun 7, 2018

Well, the trade deadline came and went, and many names thought to be on the move (Dwight Howard, Pau Gasol, Josh Smith, Rajon Rondo, Deron Williams and Carmelo Anthony) stayed put.

But that doesn't mean influential players didn't move. There were still deals made that could have a major impact as the season unfolds. This article ranks the top five players who are relocating, counting down from No. 5.

5. Andrew Bogut to the Golden State Warriors

The Warriors made a questionable deal by sending leading scorer Monta Ellis to the Bucks for Andrew Bogut. They must see something special in the future with Bogut, because according to Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports, Bogut's fractured ankle might keep him out the remainder of the season.

Bogut is a skilled big man, and when healthy he'll join David Lee to give the Warriors a stellar frontcourt.

He makes this list because of what he's capable of doing, but the Warriors just better hope he's healthy in the future. Trading Ellis for him was a pretty costly price.

4. Stephen Jackson to the San Antonio Spurs

Here's a minor deal that could have major impact. Captain Jack won his only title with the Spurs in 2003. As reported by Marc Spears of Yahoo! Sports, he now returns to San Antonio and could prove pivotal come the playoffs.

Jackon's a superb player performer, and gives the Spurs another weapon on the wing.

He's past his prime at this point, but don't be surprised if Jackson proves to be a wise addition down the stretch.

3. Ramon Sessions to the Los Angeles Lakers

As reported by Brian Windhorst of ESPN, the Lakers finally landed an upgrade at point guard in Ramon Sessions. Sessions is certainly not an All-Star-caliber player, but he's capable of being a quality facilitator. He can also knock down the three at quite the rate (41.9 percent this season).

He could end up complementing Kobe Bryant very nicely, and could be the missing link to a very deep playoff run.

2. Gerald Wallace to the New Jersey Nets

The Nets didn't land Dwight Howard, so they then resorted to Gerald Wallace, as Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

Sounds like they went from Plan A to Plan K.

Wallace is honestly a quality player, but their motivation in signing him is to convince point guard Deron Williams to stay beyond this season. They plan to also add more pieces before free agency hits in July.

Wallace is a nice addition, but I'm guessing they're going to need a lot more besides him to keep D-Will around.

1. Monta Ellis to the Milwaukee Bucks

The Bucks landed an elite scorer in Monta Ellis. He takes them from being a team who was fighting for a playoff berth to a team that could cause some trouble for elite teams in the playoffs.

Jennings and Ellis now form a potent backcourt that will put up big numbers.

Ellis was undoubtedly the best player dealt at this year's deadline, and we will surely see his impact on the Bucks. Expect them to make the playoffs and put up a fight in their first-round series.
