Dwight Howard Video: Watch Superman Speak on His Decision to Stay with the Magic
Well, Dwight Howard will be returning to the Orlando Magic for the 2012-13 season. And frankly, his statement during the press conference to announce that he'll waive the early termination option in his contract sounded like, well, a couple getting back together.
Howard is too loyal, you see. He loves Orlando too much. He really, really wants to make things work.
But this is a two-way street, baby. Everybody in the organization, from the top to the very bottom, has to do whatever it takes to make this work. The organization can't just go through the motions and fall into the same rut. Oh no—things have to be different this time.
Everybody has to believe. Alex Martins, Otis Smith, Stan Van Gundy, the other players, even the fans, they all have to believe this can work.
Dwight can't do this alone, you guys.
Even the fans have to be behind him, have to support him, have to convince him that Orlando truly is the place for him. Because don't think there aren't other women—excuse me, I meant organizations—out there that wouldn't love to be with him.
But you gotta believe, Orlando.
You gotta make this relationship better, front office of the Magic. Dwight is gonna need things to be spiced up. You may have to be willing to open your arms to another man, maybe Deron Williams, to make things work.
You have until the summer of 2013 to prove just how deeply and passionately committed you are to Dwight Howard, Orlando. Shower him with love, support, money and better players, or he'll go find another lover.
Er, organization.
