NBA Trade Rumors: 7 Stars Not Named Dwight Howard Who Will Be Dealt
With the trade deadline just hours away and Dwight Howard poised to stay with the Orlando Magic, the domino effect has begun.
With the biggest available name off of the market, it's time for teams to make their moves and acquire the talent they feel will take their team to the promised land. While it may seem quiet on the star player forefront, believe me, it's not.
Numerous players are rumored to be on the move, and with time winding down, you may just see these deals transpire before your very eyes.
Deron Williams, New Jersey Nets
1 of 7Deron Williams' future with the Nets has infamously been dependent on their ability to acquire Dwight Howard. Seeing as Howard will be in Orlando through the 2013 season, it looks like Williams is hitting the road.
As far as potential destinations, take your pick. As long as they have draft picks and a surplus of talent they're willing to give up, they're a contender to land Deron Williams.
Let the new sweepstakes begin.
Gerald Wallace, Portland Trail Blazers
2 of 7Gerald Wallace has been involved in potential trade rumors for quite some time now. While no individual team has singled themselves out as a favorite, Wallace's talent commands attention and by the time the trade deadline comes and goes, it will get that.
With contenders such as Orlando and Indiana looking to strengthen their play on the wing, don't expect Wallace to end up with another version of the Bobcats. He could be an addition that plays a role similar to Rasheed Wallace in Detroit.
Jamal Crawford, Portland Trail Blazers
3 of 7Sorry to gut your roster, Portland, but I have no control over fate.
There are so many options for Jamal Crawford that at least one of them has to work out.
Crawford is involved in potential deals that include the Lakers, Clippers and Timberwolves, the question at this point is where Crawford ends up, not if he will be leaving.
Michael Beasley, Minnesota Timberwolves
4 of 7According to Dave McMenamin of ESPN Los Angeles, the Los Angeles Lakers are close to acquiring Michael Beasley from the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The deal would send Portland's Jamal Crawford to Minnesota, the T-Wolves' Luke Ridnour to Portland and Beasley to the Lakers. The Lakers would reportedly give up one of their two first round draft picks while absorbing Beasley's contract in the trade exception from Lamar Odom's departure.
Pau Gasol, Los Angeles Lakers
5 of 7Between the Chicago Bulls and Houston Rockets, something has got to give.
The Lakers are in dire need of a point guard, something the Rockets are able to supply, if they're willing to wait. Chicago, on the other hand, has expressed public interest in Gasol's services. Los Angeles' asking price, however, could be too high.
Regardless of which team suceeds in acquiring Gasol, it appears one team will. The Rockets have been in talks to acquire Gasol since the beginning of the season. The Bulls are looking for an upgrade at the 4.
Something has got to give.
Paul Pierce, Boston Celtics
6 of 7One of the all-time greatest Celtics could be on the move, as general manager Danny Ainge reportedly offered Paul Pierce to the Portland Trail Blazers. While what he asked for is unclear, players such as Gerald Wallace match up financially.
If the Portland deal falls through, there is a good chance Pierce stays put. Considering Ainge made the offer, however, it's hard to imagine the Blazers will deny an opportunity to put the consistently producing Pierce alongside young LaMarcus Aldridge.
Ray Allen, Boston Celtics
7 of 7With multiple teams reportedly interested in acquiring Ray Allen, including the Larry Bird-led Indiana Pacers and the struggling Los Angeles Clippers, it's hard to imagine the all-time great stays put.
