Power Ranking Oklahoma City Thunder's Kevin Durant & the NBA's Best Shooters

Joel C. CordesMar 14, 2012

Where do Kobe Bryant, Kevin Durant, Dirk Nowitzki and Steve Nash rank among the best shooters in the NBA today?

With a bunch of big names and a few surprises, Bleacher Report’s Joel C. Cordes narrowed down a list of more than 30 different NBA snipers.

Selections were quantified by shooting percentages, position and scoring rate both during this season and across a career.

This list also took into account non-measurables such as clutchness, stance, balance, form, release and “beauty of the shot.”

Players who are well known for other facets of their game had a much more difficult time qualifying.

For example, Dwyane Wade and LeBron James are both fantastic shooters in their own right. Yet their great field-goal percentages and game roles are defined more specifically by driving ability.

Honorable mention goes to Andrea Bargnani, Kyle Korver, Richard Jefferson, Luke Ridnour, Kevin Martin, J.J. Redick, Mo Williams, James Harden and Brandon Rush.

Power forwards such as Amar’e Stoudemire, Chris Bosh, Pau Gasol, LaMarcus Aldridge, Ryan Anderson and Kevin Love all would make a larger list as superlative examples of jump-shooting big men.

In tenth place, this combo guard has made a career out of hitting big shots. When he’s on fire, everything that leaves his hand seems good.

You can’t have a shooter’s list without this champion. With only Larry Bird as a legitimate rival, he might be the best shooter ever at his position.

This guy doesn’t get enough publicity, but his percentages and shooting game just don’t lie.

At seventh, this guy is more well known as one of the best point guards ever, but his shooting touch and percentages are often overlooked.

This pick will raise eyebrows, but don’t stay indignant for too long. With a beautiful shot and absolutely no conscious at all, he will be even higher on the list by the time his career is done.

In the fifth spot, this surefire Hall of Famer makes the cut on sheer clutchness alone, not to mention an unstoppable fall-away jumper.

With perfect form, balance, shot selection and flat-out ridiculously accurate percentages from all shooting facets, this guy is one of the best ever.

At third, this power forward-sized player is impossible to guard and can get his devastating jump shot off whenever he wants it.

On sheer beauty of shot, this guard has the pedigree and skill to define the next generation of shooters…if he stays healthy.

The first pick is no surprise. Despite aging, he’s still the league’s best shooter. Even once he hangs up the sneakers, we’ll be debating whether he was the greatest of all time.
