NBA Trade Deadline 2012: Latest Odds for Biggest Trade Targets
The NBA trade deadline is just a day away and trade rumors are flying around so fast that it's hard to keep up. Whether or not the biggest trade prospects will actually be sent packing remains to be seen.
Guys like Dwight Howard and Pau Gasol are still up in the air, while a few of the bigger trade targets have already been dealt. It should be an interesting two days for sure.
Here are percentage odds on how likely each big trade target is to be traded by the Thursday deadline.
Dwight Howard
1 of 5Obviously, the biggest star trade target this season is Dwight Howard by a long shot.
Howard is considered to be the best center in the game and is being pursued like it, by his team and others alike. His likelihood to be traded has gone down within the last few days, however, especially with his recent admission that he does not want to be traded.
There are also the reports that the Chicago Bulls, preferred trading partner of the Orlando Magic, have backed out of talks since Dwight Howard will not commit to them long term.
Chance He's Traded: 30 percent
Pau Gasol
2 of 5Big men are gold in this league, which is why the second biggest trade target of this season is Pau Gasol.
Gasol is one of the most skilled seven-footers to ever play the game, and right now the Los Angeles Lakers are being courted for his services by a number of teams.
The most recent team to enter the fray, along with the most interesting one, is the Chicago Bulls, who are reportedly trying to nab the Spanish big man. Reportedly, however, the Lakers did not like the Bulls' offer and the Bulls' didn't like the counter offer the Lakers gave.
It looks like Gasol will probably stay a Laker for now.
Chance He's Traded: 10 percent
Josh Smith
3 of 5It makes sense why Josh Smith would be a big trade target. He is a 6'9" power forward who can also play on the perimeter and averages 17 points, 9.7 rebounds, 3.5 assists and two blocks per game.
Smith is a guy that can help a team in many different ways. Earlier reports had stated that Smith wanted out of Atlanta.
However, now Atlanta Hawks owner Bruce Levenson has dispelled those reports and said that the there is a zero percent chance Smith will be traded and that Smith never wanted out in the first place.
I don't completely trust Levenson, but it does bring Smith's percentage down.
Chance He's Traded: 5 percent
Rajon Rondo
4 of 5Rajon Rondo has been the subject of many trade rumors for the Boston Celtics. The one that appeared to have had the most legs was a trade sending him to the Los Angeles Lakers for Pau Gasol.
However, the Lakers declined the trade. So, now it appears that Rondo will most likely remain a Celtic. He will remain stagnant, but his team as a whole probably won't.
Chance He's Traded: 10 percent
Andrew Bynum
5 of 5Andrew Bynum is another Los Angeles Laker on the list that has been coveted by many other teams in the NBA.
Bynum has gone on the record saying that he believes that he'll still be a Laker after the deadline, but recent reports say that the Orlando Magic are still interested in him and that the only player the Lakers would trade him for is Dwight Howard.
These recent developments up his chances slightly, but I still think he'll be a Laker beyond Thursday.
Chance He's Traded: 10 percent
