28 Days of Mania: The Miz's Involvement in WM 28 and What It Really Means
Disclaimer: This will be an ongoing series for the next 28 days leading up to the biggest event in sports entertainment, WrestleMania 28. The idea behind the piece is to build more momentum for the event and give you, the Bleacher Report fan, a chance to read, comment and weigh in with opinions about the WWE, the business and the event. It is my hope this becomes something positive and we all enjoy the ride for the next four weeks to Miami and the biggest event of the wrestling year. Enjoy.
Sometimes, it is not so much what happens during a wrestling match that matters as much as what happens after the event.

Modern-Day Dream Matches 💭

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
This might be the case between The Rock and John Cena. After the "hundreds" (I could have said millions) of days between the first notion of a match like this and the promotion of it, there is a possibility that the match could be marred by outside interference.
According to 411mania.com, The Miz is said to interfere in the match, eluding to the fact he was the headliner against John Cena just a year ago. It is part of the spiral of Miz's character, which has taken a major hit since he was involved in TLC before the end of 2011.
Can't we all just get along? Can't The Rock and Cena just have their match and finally get it over with? Do we have to have heat from the outside or backstage? That would cheapen a match that is not as interesting as the name calling and "grab ass" play these two are generating.
And, with three other main event matches, not to mention the John Laurinaitis/Teddy Long situation, the interference by any one on any level in the "match of the century" would cheapen what the WWE has done for a solid year.
There hasn't been this much build up to a match or wrestler since "Where is Sting?" in WCW.
If this is the case and The Miz does interfere, what does it truly mean? Yes, there is a history between these three men (mainly Miz and Cena), and there is some "redemption" involved if you look at it from that angle.
There is the fact The Rock is not "selling" like in years past, that Cena has passed him in that regard.
Then there is the obvious, or maybe the one some of us see and wonder what will happen?
Maybe the WWE made a mistake? What if the creative team and corporate realize The Rock is not
"The Rock" and John Cena is better than they thought in this role?
There is talk of real heat between these two (I suspect they really don't like each other) and the promos by The Rock that were expected to be like they were in years past are the same, don't have as much "pop" as they once did.
This is why I preach that having veterans return to the ring is not always a good thing.
But in the meantime, this is what we have. It also means The Miz and Cena will develop a storyline for April and beyond. It puts The Miz back on the map, makes Cena a bigger hero. And most of all, it probably allows The Rock to go back to Hollywood.
Until next year.
