South Park Characters and Their MMA Counterparts

Matt JuulMar 13, 2012

Rowdy, obnoxious and definitely over the top, Comedy Central's South Park has provided viewers with a ton of laughs after 15 seasons and a feature-length film.

With so many characters to draw from, we here at B/R MMA could not think of a better way to honor the upcoming 16th season than with a slideshow comparing these zany personalities with their MMA counterparts.

So sit back and have yourself a laugh before the season premiere.

Special thanks to B/R Featured Columnist Rob Tatum for his help on this slideshow.

Jacob Volkmann as Skeeter

1 of 19

As South Park's most outspoken resident red neck, Skeeter is a caricature on the far right, embodying every ultra-patriotic value. Skeeter is famous for telling America's detractors to "git out," as well as not taking too kindly to strangers.

UFC lightweight Jacob Volkmann has gained notoriety throughout the MMA world for his own political beliefs, effectively telling President Barrack Obama to "git out" of office after his UFC 125 win, saying, "Someone needs to knock some sense into that idiot."

Volkmann again received criticism after calling out President Obama a second time after UFC 141.

Like Skeeter, Volkmann's tendencies to speak his political views often get him in a lot of trouble.

Mauro Ranallo as Mr. Mackey

2 of 19

As one of the sport's most notable broadcasters, Mauro Ranallo has served a variety of roles in the sports world and has been around MMA since its rise in popularity in the early 2000s.

Known as the voice of Pride and the current commentator for Strikeforce, Ranallo has a penchant for using cliché phrases.

Sporting a pair of oval glasses and an almost completely bald head, Mr. Mackey is the Ranallo of South Park's elementary school, also working in a variety of capacities, including being the school's go-to counselor. Mr. Mackey even has a catchphrase of his own, M'kay?

Jon Jones as Mysterion

3 of 19

South Park's mysterious child superhero, Mysterion uses his powers for good, combating the evil schemes hatched by the Coon, Professor Chaos and of course the dark lord Cthulhu.

Eventually revealed to be Kenny's alter-ego, Mysterion does whatever he can to stop crime, whether it's beating up bad guys or selling treats to raise money for the BP oil spill relief with the rest of Coon and Friends.

Surprisingly, the UFC has its own resident superhero—Jon Jones!

Prior to his title winning performance against Shogun Rua at UFC 128, the youngest champion in UFC history prepped for his bout by taking out a robber on the street after he had stolen a woman's GPS.  Jones even leads his own group of super MMA athletes as the biggest champion on Greg Jackson's fight team.

Arianny Celeste as Wendy Testaburger

4 of 19

One of only a handful of level-headed characters on the show, Stan's girlfriend Wendy Testaburger is also quite outspoken, especially if Eric Cartman is scheming around.

UFC Octagon girl Arianny Celeste has had her own moments of dealing with a certain loudmouth bully, taking on middleweight Chael Sonnen in an all-out Twitter war last year.

Andrei Arlovski as ManBearPig

5 of 19

Hairy, fanged and a beast in the cage, Andrei Arlovski was once one of the most brutal heavyweights in the world. Unlike ManBearPig, however, Arlovski's KO power is quite real.

Herb Dean as Token

6 of 19

While Token is the only African American child in South Park's group of kids, Herb Dean is the only highly recognized African American that consistently referees in the bigger MMA promotions.

In a sport as diverse as MMA, this fact is quite troubling.

Nick Diaz as Towlie

7 of 19

Why Nick Diaz failed his UFC 143 drug test:

Towlie: "Wanna get high?"

Nick Diaz: "Can't, gotta fight next week."

Towlie: "C'mon, let's get high!"

Nick Diaz: "...Iight."

Next time Nick, don't hang out with Towlie before your fight.

Tim Sylvia as Mr. McCormick

8 of 19

Once on top of the MMA world as the UFC heavyweight champion, Tim Sylvia has fallen from grace over the past few years and has really let himself go, despite his recent attempts to get back into the UFC.

Like Sylvia, Kenny's dad is also looking for a new job and is also often on the wrong side of a beatdown. Though Mr. McCormick's opponent is usually his wife.

Rory MacDonald as Ike

9 of 19

As one of the UFC's youngest fighters, Canadian welterweight Rory MacDonald is one of the promotion's top prospects.

Full of youth and potential, this powerhouse from up north is part of the new crop of young fighters energizing and evolving the sport.

Like MacDonald, Ike is also one of the youngest characters on the show and is also from Canada. What a coincidence, eh?

Cyborg Santos as Shelly Marsh

10 of 19

The toughest female fighter out there today, Cyborg Santos is a fearsome opponent in the cage and has been known to serve many a beat down, even against the guys.

Stan's older sister Shelly has also been known to give a pretty bad beating, although almost exclusively to her brother and his friends.

Brittney Palmer as Bebe Stevens

11 of 19

As the UFC's most popular Octagon girl, Brittney Palmer has stolen the attention of male fans ever since her days with the WEC.

Bebe has also been known to grasp the attention of her male classmates on many occasions. It looks like both these gals know how to handle themselves on the ground as well.

Michael Bisping as Pip Pirrup

12 of 19

As the UFC's most prominent British fighter, Michael Bisping gets a bad rap for his loudmouth and occasional unsportsmanlike conduct.

I can't help but think that as a kid, Bisping was a little like Pip Pirrup, getting teased for being a push over, only to unleash his rage through sports, which, in Pip's case, is dodgeball.

Both also know what it's like to get served a crushing blow, as Dan Henderson beat Bisping down almost as bad as Pip was crushed by Mecha Streisand.

Don Frye as Mr. Conners the Wrestling Coach

13 of 19

It's time for some "wrastling"!

Georges St-Pierre as Butters Stotch

14 of 19

A mild-mannered, sweet guy in person, UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre may not look all that imposing; however, underneath it all, he's a superb athlete and one of the best fighters in the world.

A bit shier than St-Pierre, Butters also has a lot of potential hidden underneath, but unlike the champion, the kids of South Park seem to sway Butters in the wrong direction.

Both fellas also need to protect their eyes better.

Mayhem Miller as Tweek Tweak

15 of 19

ADD ridden and completely off the wall, Tweek and Mayhem may want to lay off the caffeine for a while.

Joe Rogan as Randy Marsh

16 of 19

All over the place and known to get excited during his commentary and stand-up shows, Joe Rogan is a very intelligent guy, but is also one of the zaniest figures in the sport.

Like Rogan, Randy Marsh is one of the craziest characters on the show and has been known to get overly enthusiastic at times, despite being a respectable geologist.

Jon Anik and Kenny Florian as Stan and Kyle

17 of 19

As the UFC's newest commentating team, Jon Anik and Kenny Florian may lack the fantastical, joie de vivre in their broadcasts that Mike Goldberg and Joe Rogan have, but their constant professionalism and level-headed commentary make them a solid fit for the promotion.

Like Anik and Florian, Stan and Kyle act as the voices of reason on the show when others opt for less-sane options.

Kenneth Allen as Kenny

18 of 19

Sporting a 1-31 record, Kenneth Allen has lost almost as many times as Kenny has died.

I'm sure Kenny's many deaths, however, were more painful, despite Allen being finished by submission 23 times and by KO or TKO five times.

Eric "Butterbean" Esch as Eric Cartman

19 of 19

Big, bold and sharing the same first name, this is a match made in heaven.

Let's just be thankful that Butterbean hasn't hatched any crazy schemes yet, unless you count his run on reality television, starring in the short-lived Big Law: Deputy Butterbean.

That idea was as bad as Cartman's impersonation of Dog the Bounty Hunter.
