WWE: 7 Superstars Who Could Join Vickie Guerrero's Stable

Drake OzJun 4, 2018

Vickie Guerrero has managed to (pun intended) make managers relevant again.

While managers have become somewhat of a lost art in professional wrestling, Vickie has helped Edge, Dolph Ziggler and Jack Swagger, among others, get over as hated heels during the last few years, and she is currently leading a heel stable consisting of Ziggler and Swagger.

With the clear lack of managers in the WWE, however—are there are any besides Vickie?—it's time for Vickie to expand her managerial services.

What Vickie needs to do is recruit some new heels, bring them into her stable and have it continue to grow so that some more up-and-coming heels can benefit from her excellent skills as a manager.

And here are seven superstars who could join Vickie's stable in the future...if the creative team ever decided to change things up a bit.

7. Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks

1 of 7

My thoughts: Why not?

While I know that Curt Hawkins and Tyler Reks don't exactly jump out at you because they've been relegated almost exclusively to NXT, they're a very talented team that could perform well on Raw or Smackdown if they were given a push and a manager like Vickie Guerrero.

Vickie has the uncanny ability to help just about anyone get over, and I have no doubt that she'd be able to do the same for a quality heel tag team like Hawkins and Reks, who have a solid combination of looks, size and mic skills.

You've got Hawkins as the better talker and more athletic worker, with Reks as the power guy with a very unique look. I prefer my stables to have four workers (main-eventer, mid-carder and a tag team), and Hawkins and Reks could be the legitimate tag team (not the one that just shows up every once in a while like American Perfection) of Vickie's faction.

Not only would this help out Hawkins and Reks, but it would provide a much needed lift to the WWE's tag team division and perhaps allow Vickie to eventually part ways with either Dolph Ziggler or Jack Swagger.

6. Alberto Del Rio

2 of 7

When Alberto Del Rio first started off in the WWE, he was immediately praised for being a very good promo guy, despite his broken English.

Yet the more that Del Rio's career has progressed, the more that many fans have felt like he's actually regressed on the microphone. The solution to that problem is none other than Vickie Guerrero.

Although Del Rio does still have Ricardo Rodriguez by his side (we think), it might be time for him to drop Ricardo (who would work really well as a comedic baby face) and to replace him with Vickie as his manager.

I would argue that ADR's biggest weakness is his inability to change/adapt his character with the times, and having Vickie work as his manager would keep him over as a hated heel while allowing him to perhaps develop his character a bit more than he's been able to.

The point I'm trying to make is that Del Rio needs some freshening up, and there are certainly worse options for him than being paired with a heat magnet like Vickie.

5. David Otunga

3 of 7

David Otunga is consistently flanked by John Laurinaitis (or is it vice versa?), but I wouldn't exactly call Laurinaitis his manager.

It's more like a working, evenly balanced relationship between the two than it is Johnny Ace working for Otunga. Anyway, Otunga seems to be getting a reasonable push as an in-ring competitor as of late, and even though I think he's better served as "Laurinaitis' legal counsel," the WWE seems intent on putting him in the ring.

If that's the case, then why not help Otunga out by pairing him with Vickie Guerrero?

The sheer volume and tone of Vickie's voice draws heat, and she can aggravate the living hell out of someone just by uttering a few words. Though Otunga actually gets some pretty good heat himself, imagine what Vickie could do for him in the long run.

Otunga plays his heel role pretty well, but he could take it to the next level by having Vickie introduce him as "A-List" Otunga and constantly interfering in his matches.

4. Johnny Curtis

4 of 7

While your only memory of Johnny Curtis might be his ridiculously bad pun segments from Smackdown last year, the guy has actually made a name for himself as one of the better heels on the show no one really watches, NXT.

Curtis has established himself as a sort of manipulative, shady individual, a gimmick that's different from most heels we see on Raw or Smackdown. While he's pretty good on the mic as well, I'm not sure if WWE fans will ever take him all that seriously after those pun segments.

Unless he gets paired with someone like Vickie Guerrero.

I could see a scenario playing out where Curtis makes the leap to the main roster and acts all nice and polite to his "friends," only to somehow screw them over with the help of Vickie and get a ton of heat because of it.

Curtis is certainly good enough to be a main roster mainstay. But having someone like Vickie make sure that he gets over as a solid mid-carder would be a great way to have him rebound from that Smackdown debacle.

3. The Miz

5 of 7

There's clearly something going on with The Miz, and by something, I don't mean something good.

There are reports of backstage heat that might be the reason why The Miz is currently on a nine-match losing streak and doesn't seem like he's going to end it anytime soon. Even when he does make his way out of the doghouse, though, I don't think he's going to be able to go back to being the same Miz he's been for the last couple of years.

Much like Alberto Del Rio, he needs a change. He needs Vickie Guerrero.

I just can't help but have this image in my head of Vickie walking into the arena and screaming, "Excuse me! Ladies and gentlemen, please welcome the most must-see WWE Champion in history...The Miz!" Gosh, how much heat would that get that?

I would argue that The Miz was at his best when he had someone there (Alex Riley) to do his dirty work, and to get his career back on track, he would benefit big-time from sliding someone like Vickie into that role.

2. Hunico

6 of 7

Hunico has his bodyguard, Camacho, and a sweet little bicycle. Now all he needs is a manager.

While Hunico is really good in the ring and has an easy-to-hate "Mexican gangster" gimmick, there's nothing about him that really screams major heel. I think that could change if he were to be paired with someone like Vickie, though.

I keep going back to the "La Familia" days with Vickie and Chavo Guerrero, and every time I do, it makes me think that some similar type of stable could work with Hunico in it instead. Although I know it's a bit stereotypical to pair a Guerrero with someone by the name of Hunico, I could see this stable getting over thanks to Vickie's ability to easily draw heat.

Hunico could perform in a role where he's willing to do anything for Vickie, as long she helps him get to where he wants in the WWE in return. Meanwhile, the faction would do what Hunico is currently doing and highlight the Hispanic heritage of all the members.

It's been done before, but it's easy not to like a heel stable of foreigners.

1. Drew McIntyre

7 of 7

Drew McIntyre has the look and in the in-ring skills to go far in the WWE, but he hasn't accomplished much since his days as "The Chosen One."

While that fantastic gimmick fell into his lap, he never really went anywhere with it, and now he's basically just Drew McIntyre, with no gimmick or anything that really stands out about his character. Even if McIntyre is going to transform into the "playboy" he recently used at a house show, he needs more than that to make his way back up the WWE ladder.

He needs to use Vickie Guerrero to do all of his actual talking for him and then he can do his own talking in the ring.

McIntyre is big enough to be taken seriously as a credible heel, but he's not the greatest on the mic and needs some sort of major change to become the total heel package. I honestly can't think of a better way to start that transformation than by pairing him with Vickie.

The only thing better than being labeled Vince McMahon's "Chosen One" is having someone else draw your heat for you.
