NBA Trade Deadline: Steve Nash and 4 Other Players Dying for a Change of Scenery
With the trade deadline fast approaching, there are players on certain teams who are either vocally or silently asking for a change of scenery.
Whether they're not comfortable where they are now or just want to play for a contending team and win as soon as possible, these guys wouldn't mind being moved come next week's trading deadline.
That said, it's not their choice (except in Steve Nash's case) and it's in the best interest of each player's team to not trade him unless they get a nice offer in return.
Here are five guys who could use a change of scenery.
Steve Nash
1 of 5He's not going to tell management that he wants out, and the Phoenix Suns won't trade him unless he says he wants to leave.
Steve Nash is too good of a citizen to openly ask for a trade. Perhaps he has behind closed doors, because it just doesn't make sense for the Suns to let him walk away this summer for nothing. They can get plenty of rebuilding tools in return for Nash.
It's incredible how he's averaging almost 11 assists per game with that horrid team. Nash has never won a ring in his career, and he'd be lying if he told you if he didn't care about getting one.
He's not going to get one in Phoenix, so it's more than likely that he will leave for another team over the summer.
Trading Nash would be a mutually beneficial deal for both sides. The Suns would begin their rebuilding process while Nash would have a shot at a championship.
Lamar Odom
2 of 5What has happened to Lamar Odom in a matter of a year?
It's truly a sad story. Odom has actually gone through plenty of personal problems this year, and 2011 is not a year that he wants to remember.
His value has diminished greatly since the offseason, and the Dallas Mavericks likely won't get much in return for him. However, he's not doing much for the team and he seems like he's in emotional distress.
Perhaps a trade back to either one of the Los Angeles teams would get him going again.
Andrew Bogut
3 of 5Andrew Bogut's name hasn't popped up frequently during this trade deadline season, but he is available according to sources.
The Australian center has spent his entire career with the Milwaukee Bucks and has only played in one playoff series. The oft-injured Bogut could use a new uniform to help a team in need of a big man in the playoff push.
He's averaging 11.3 points and 8.3 rebounds per game on an average Bucks team. Those numbers can indubitably improve any team's frontcourt, and he can gain glory by making his fellow Aussies down under proud.
Deron Williams
4 of 5Deron Williams won't get traded this deadline season, but he's well aware that the New Jersey Nets aren't going to be successful without some more help on the team. They're currently 13-27, and that has to be frustrating for Williams.
Williams has yet to sign an extension with the Nets, and unless they make a play for a guy like Dwight Howard, he's not going to return. He wants to play for a winner, and there are plenty of contending teams on the market that are desperate for a point guard.
Dwight Howard
5 of 5Whether he wants to stay in Orlando or not doesn't really matter. Dwight Howard just wants this week to end. He must be sick and tired of all the rumors that have been swirling since the lockout ended.
With the Orlando Magic playing so well this season, it seems like the team may be inclined to keep Howard and make a championship push.
However, does it really make sense to do that and risk not getting anything in return for Howard during free agency?
