Bellator 60 Results: Live Joe Warren vs. Pat Curran Main Card Play-by-Play

From The Venue at Horseshoe Casino in Hammond, IN, Bellator 60 is now underway. Bleacher Report will provide live results below and play-by-play coverage on the following pages of this slideshow. 

In addition to a featherweight title fight between elite 145-pound fighters Joe Warren and Pat Curran, Bellator 60 features the first round of a featherweight tournament that will determine a new title contender in the division.

Joe Warren vs. Pat Curran

Curran defeats Warren by knockout (knees and punches) at 1:25 of the third round.

Daniel Straus vs. Jeremy Spoon

Straus defeats Spoon by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).

Ronnie Mann vs. Mike Corey

Corey defeats Mann by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Marlon Sandro vs. Roberto Vargas

Sandro defeated Vargas by submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:35 of the first round.

Alexandre Bezerra vs. Kenny Foster

Bezerra defeats Foster by submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:57 of the second round.

Joe Warren vs. Pat Curran

Round 1

Warren scores a takedown less than 15 seconds into the fight,but Curran uses the fence to stand and lands a big elbow.

After the fighters separate, Warren secures another brief takedown and presses Curran to the fence. Curran circles away, but he is forced to defend a single-leg takedown.

Curran rocks Warren badly with a head kick, defends a takedown and lands a knee to the body of Warren.

The challenger counters a takedown attempt with a big knee, but Warren eats it and secures a takedown as the round comes to an end

B/R scores the round 10-9 Curran.


Round 2

Curran opens the round with a stiff jab, but Warren earns another takedown inside opening minute. Again, Curran escapes quickly.

Warren scores with an outside leg kick. Curran pumps the jab and defends a takedown attempt with two minutes left in the frame.

Warren eventually secures the takedown and moves to side control, but Curran escapes and lands a right hand.

C defends and takdown and lands a body kick near the end of the round, which was much tougher to score than the first.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Warren (19-19).


Round 3

Curran times a knee on a Warren takedown attempt and lands another big knee along the fence. Curran blasts away at Warren and takes the Bellator featherweight belt with a series of uppercuts that put Warren away.

Curran defeats Warren by knockout (knees and punches) at 1:25 of the third round.

Daniel Straus vs. Jeremy Spoon

Round 1

Straus scores with an inside leg kick and looks for a trip takedown, but Spoon defends and lands a stiff jab.

The 27-year-old Straus lands a straight left and secures a takedown with three minutes left in the round. While looking for a D'Arce choke, Straus lands knees to the body of Spoon.

An inside leg kick and left uppercut land for Straus as the opening round comes to an end.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Straus.


Round 2

Spoon clinches and presses Straus to the fence. Straus circles off the fence and lands a kick to the body of Spoon, but a second kick lands to the groin. 

After a short break, the fighters trade leg kicks and Straus hits Spoon with a left. 

Spoon looks for a takedown, but Straus uses the fence to defend. After Spoon lands some short punches, Straus works off cage and lands a left hook.

A slapping inside leg kick lands for Straus, who is briefly grounded by a Spoon trip takedown. Straus evens the score with a takedown of his own before the end of the stanza.

B/R scores the round 10-10 (20-19 Straus).


Round 3

Countering a leg kick, a big right hand lands for Spoon. Spoon lands a knee to the body and presses Straus to the cage.

With his back against the fence, Straus lands a knee and left hook, then both fighters trade leg kicks through middle of the round.

Spoon backs his opponent up with an uppercut and right hook, but Straus answers with an inside leg kick. Again Straus gets pressed against the fence with one minute left, though.

A straight left score for Straus and he defends a Spoon takedown attempt. The round ends with Spoon on top of Straus in a sprawled position.

B/R scores the round 10-10 (30-29 Straus).

Straus defeats Spoon by unanimous decision (30-27, 29-28, 29-28).

Ronnie Mann vs. Mike Corey

Round 1

Mann opens with leg kicks and lands a left hook at the back end of a combination. Corey blocks a head kick and presses forward, but he is met with a right hook.

Two right hands from Mann drop Corey, but Corey recovers and stands.

The 25-year-old Mann lands a straight right and flying knee, but Corey scores a takedown with 30 seconds left in the round.

Corey pounds away with right hands from the half-guard, but it may not have been enough to even the round.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Mann.


Round 2

Mann lands a right straight. Corey answers with a left hook. Thailand native Mann scores with an outside leg kick. Corey lands a nice combination, but Mann returns a right hook.

Corey scores a takedown with three minute remaining in the round, but Mann attacks with an armbar attempt.

The 28-year-old Corey defends and moves to side control. Corey peppers away at Mann with left hands and should take the round on the scorecards.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Corey (19-19).


Round 3

After some back-and-forth exchanges, Corey secures another takedown one minute into the final frame. Corey lands right hands from the half-guard of Mann.

Mann continues to search for an armbar, but he is in danger of losing on the scorecards. Corey lands to the body and head with his left hand.

After rolling to his knees, Mann looks for a leg lock, but it is unsuccessful. Corey finishes the round on top and should win on the scorecards.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Corey (29-28 Corey).

Corey defeats Mann by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Marlon Sandro vs. Roberto Vargas

Round 1

Sandro is aggressive early, but he is missing with most of his strikes.The Brazilian lands an outside leg kick, but Vargas presses forward and lands a left hook.

Sandro rocks Vargas with an uppercut and right hook. Looking for the finish, Sandro attempts a flying knee, which allows Vargas to attempt a takedown.

The 35-year-old defends the takedown, though, and starts unloading jab-right hook combinations. After a series of looping hooks, Vargas drops to his knees.

Former Sengoku champion Sandro takes Vargas' back and moves onto the Bellator tournament semifinals with a rear-naked choke.

Sandro defeated Vargas by submission (rear-naked choke) at 3:35 of the first round.

Alexandre Bezerra vs. Kenny Foster

Round 1

Bezerra throws a right hand and shoots in for a double-lef takedown. After dragging Fosteer to the ground briefly, Foster works his way back to his feet and presses Bezerra against the fence.

Bezerra lands a slapping leg kick and grazes Foster's head with a kick. Foster defends a takedown, but another leg kick scores for Bezerra at the two-minute mark.

Foster, a late replacement in the featherweight tournament for an overweight Genair da Silva, get wobbled with a right upper-left hook combination

After a hip toss attempt, Bezerra lands a leg kick with under one minute to go and goes into cruise control for the remainder of the ronud.

B/R scores the round 10-9 Bezerra.


Round 2

Bezerra controls center of the Octagon early and tosses Foster to the ground, but Foster stands and slams Bezerra to the canvas himself.

Bezerra escapes and lands a leg kick. Foster shoots in for a takedown, but Bezerra turns the tables and throws down hammerfists.

With seconds remaining the round, Bezerra locks up a rear-naked choke, earns the win and moves onto the semifinals of the Bellator featherweight tournament.

Bezerra defeats Foster by submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:57 of the second round.

Preliminary Bouts

Genair da Silva defeated Bobby Reardanz by technical knockout (leg kicks and punches) at 0:51 of the third round.

After being removed from the Bellator featherweight tournament due to missing weight on Thursday, da Silva rendered Reardanz unable to stand after landing several leg kicks.

Josh Shockley defeated Shamar Bailey by unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27).

In his first appearance since being released by the UFC, Bailey was outwrestled by Shockley and suffered his sixth loss in his past eight appearances.

Sean McCorkle defeated Richard White by submission (neck crank) at 1:02 of the first round.

In his Bellator debut, McCorkle picked up his sixth straight win and should find himself in a Bellator heavyweight tournament sometime in the near future.

Travis Wiuff defeated Anthony Gomez by unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28).

Following up his win over Bellator light heavyweight champion Christian M'Pumbu, Wiuff earned a lopsided victory over an overmatched Gomez.

Jake Nauracy defeated Cory Galloway by submission (rear-naked choke) at 4:22 of the second round.

Nauracy made a big statement in his professional MMA debut by earning a submission victory in a promotion like Bellator. The 21-year-old bantamweight could be a fighter to watch in the future.
