Injury News: Blake Griffin Rolls Ankle Against New Jersey Nets
A collective gasp could be heard throughout Clipper nation as Blake Griffin went down with a leg-related injury.
Again.
According to Broderick Turner of the Los Angeles Times, Blake Griffin suffered a mild ankle sprain in the Clippers' 101-100 loss to the New Jersey Nets. It was also reported that he was feeling soreness in his left knee; the same knee that caused Griffin to miss the entire 2010 season.
In a postgame interview, Griffin was asked about the play. The 2009 first overall draft choice responded with optimism:
"I had a rebound and I guess he wanted to dive after it and took my legs out, rolled my ankle and rolled my knee. The knee is good, but the ankle might be a little bit swollen, But it won't be anything that holds me back. I'll get some treatment on it tomorrow and be ready to go.
"
While the injury should be taken care of with caution, the only words that truly matter to Clippers fans are that of the final sentence.
After losing Chauncey Billups for the season to a torn Achilles tendon, the Clippers could ill afford losing another key component to their championship aspirations. Fortunately, Griffin appears ready to continue his All-Star season as the Clippers look to turn things around after losing six of their past nine games.
