Carl Pavano Goes Three Innings Deep Against the Baltimore Orioles
Carl Pavano threw 56 pitches over three innings in a 6-0 loss to the Baltimore Orioles in Sarasota, FL. He faced a total of 16 batters, allowing five hits, walking one and striking out one.
The official scorecard has him with one earned run, but the play was questionable as Ben Revere dropped a fairly routine fly to left field.
Pavano gave up a leadoff double in the first inning and worked his way out of it with three fly-ball outs.

The second inning was not as simple.
After getting Orioles catcher Matt Wieters to ground out to first, Mark Reynolds reached on what should have been ruled an error on Revere. Reynolds attempted to steal second, and, on catcher Drew Butera's throw down to second, he hit Pavano in the shoulder.
Pavano then walked a batter before getting a strikeout for his second out of the inning. After allowing back-to-back singles that scored the first run of the game, Pavano got former Minnesota Twins shortstop J.J. Hardy to fly out to end the inning.
In the third inning, Pavano allowed two hits, both singles, but worked his way out of it with a strikeout and a fly-ball out.
Overall, Pavano worked himself out of a couple tough situations and looked fairly good in his second outing of the spring. Unfortunately, the same can't be said about the Twins from an offensive standpoint.
The Twins sluggers only managed six hits, and in only two innings did anyone advance past first base. It was a dismal offensive showing by a Twins lineup that featured four projected starting-position players in Denard Span, Tsuyoshi Nishioka, Josh Willingham and Ben Revere.
