WWE News: Update on the Future of the Money in the Bank Match and PPV
The WWE can’t seem to decide what it wants to do with the Money in the Bank match.
One day we hear that it’s going to take place at WrestleMania, one day we hear that we’re going to see it at its own exclusive pay-per-view (like in 2011), and then the next day we hear that it will happen at both WrestleMania and the MITB show in July.
No one really seems to know what’s going on for sure, though, and the WWE is apparently now toying with holding the bout at a completely different pay-per-view.

"There was talk this week in WWE that the Money in the Bank ladder match would now become a regular match SummerSlam pay-per-view, according to F4Wonline.com.
The idea is to make the event feel more special each year. There were rumors that the match and the MITB pay-per-view would be moved to July, but at that has yet to be confirmed. The only thing confirmed is that whatever the July pay-per-view ends up being, it will be in Phoenix and not in Las Vegas as originally scheduled.

Now, this is a move I can get on board with.
Though I still think that WrestleMania 28 is a great option (because it adds a great bout to the show and gets eight deserving wrestlers on the card), I really like the idea of holding it at SummerSlam to make that pay-per-view seem a little more important.
SummerSlam is viewed as one of the WWE’s “Big Four” PPVs, but aside from a highly anticipated bout or two (like John Cena vs. CM Punk last year), it hasn’t really felt one like one in recent years. Throwing the Money in the Bank match in would certainly help that.
After all, last year’s SummerSlam featured a random six-man tag-team match pitting Rey Mysterio, Kofi Kingston and John Morrison against The Miz, R-Truth and Alberto Del Rio, which was the WWE’s way of saying, “Hey, let’s throw all these mid-carders into this one match because we can’t figure out what to do with them.”
The solution? The Money in the Bank match.
WrestleMania generally sells itself on name alone, but SummerSlam doesn’t really do that like it once did, so adding a fan-favorite bout like MITB to the show would be a good way to draw in more fans and increase the SummerSlam buy-rate.
Plus, having a superstar holding the MITB briefcase heading into the fall would be a great way to increase interest in the WWE at a time when it has fierce competition from Monday Night Football.
