WWE News: Feelings on Who's Winning Verbal War Between The Rock and John Cena

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

The Rock and John Cena have, pun intended, electrified the WWE Universe for two straight weeks now with two stellar show-closing promos.

The incredible exchanges between the two superstars has sparked an interesting debate: Who’s winning the verbal war, The Rock or Cena?

While Team Bring it seems to be firmly behind The Rock, it looks like it’s more than just the Cenation that thinks Cena is one-upping “The People’s Champ.”

The overall majority feeling from other wrestlers in WWE is that John Cena is winning the war of words on the microphone, according to F4Wonline.com.

Many feel Cena has stepped his game up in this personal-feeling rivalry between he and The Rock. It should be noted that most of what both men are saying on the microphone is material and ideas they have come up with as opposed to material being fed to them by the creative team.

"

As someone who has never been a big Cena fan, even I have to admit that he is going toe-to-toe with The Rock on the microphone when I never thought it was possible.

But is he really winning? Well, I wouldn’t say that either The Rock or Cena is necessarily winning here.

Both superstars are giving each other ammunition to rip each other apart in the war of the words, and The Rock has been his usual great self on the microphone. The reason that I think Rock’s gotten some criticisms over his last two promos, however, is not that he suddenly forgot how to work a mic—it’s that Cena’s stepped his mic game up big-time.

Cena has stopped cutting those corny PG promos full of poop jokes, and instead, he’s been a bit more edgy, clever and creative. In turn, he’s looking a lot better on the mic than he usually does.

That’s all the fans wanted out of Cena. We wanted him to stop trying to appeal to all the women and children, and that’s what he’s done.

He’s winning over the key demographic that typically boos him (males aged 18-34), but that doesn’t meaning he’s winning the verbal war.

The Rock has still been great on the mic, and unless he starts completely forgetting what he has to say, then the real winners here are us, the fans, for watching a wildly entertaining feud between two of the biggest names in wrestling history.
