28 Days of 'Mania: Shawn Michaels Puts a Whole New Spin on "Hell in a Cell"
We knew it was coming.
From the moment HHH and Shawn Michaels got in the ring three weeks ago to do their vignette, we knew there would be “blood” of some kind.
This time, it was in the form of the almighty “I’m better than you” scenario.

Most Likely Backlash Heel/Face Turns 🎭
Words are very, unnecessary. They can only do hard.
In the tangled web woven by The Undertaker and HHH, the idea of adding Shawn Michaels to the mix was never not an option—it was only a matter of time when the option would be used in wrestling’s largest and most important pay-per-view of the year.
Last night, we saw the outcome of two friends allowing egos to get in the way in a very cheesy (Michaels is always way over the top) vignette that caused a rift in a 17-year friendship.
But isn’t that what wrestling is all about? And now, everyone gets what they want in WrestleMania 28. A match for the ages in “Hell in a Cell” already had the makings of the best match EVER in pay-per-view history, but add Shawn Michaels to the mix and I swear the creative team in the WWE working on this event has diamonds in their hands.
And the best thing about this above everything else is that Undertaker appears to be the school-yard bully who made one comment, stood back and watched it all unfold.
A cleverly cast move on his part.
So now, there are even more subplots to be added to the mix. And with Michaels as the special guest referee, this may have as many twists and turns as the WrestleMania XIV match with Mike Tyson.
This ought to continue to be one hell of a match. But now, we have to wonder (yes, it is ok to do so out loud) if Michaels feels like the one scorned and will help Undertaker, who has defeated “Mr. WrestleMania” before, keep his streak intact? And does that open more doors for a feud between HHH and Michaels after April 1?
It also gives new meaning to the adage that “breaking up is hard to do.”
I think the WWE has worked this perfectly in all three of the superstars’ favors. Michaels either becomes the hero or the goat. Undertaker can be the catalyst to making sure he wins and takes his record to 20-0. HHH can prove he still loves and respects his best friend by winning, breaking the streak and apologizing profusely.
No wonder the match that was to end all matches gets better and better. Rock/Cena does not have this drama. Punk/Jericho cannot hold a candle to it. Bryan/Sheamus doesn’t have the depth.
Everything the WWE wants to accomplish is in this match. It must see. It must excite and it must keep all of us on our toes.
And most of all, it must have an ending none of us are expecting. Does Michaels retire both HHH and the Undertaker? Do HHH Michaels feud in the ring? Does the Undertaker win almost by default? You cannot use the term “drama” loosely in this one.
But at the end of the night, there will be three “icons” in the ring that gave us a great show and proved despite age, injury and lack of ring time, they are still the best at their craft. And most importantly, still the best at helping to script one hell of a storyline.
