Is Terrence Boyd the Future Face of American Soccer?
Here it is, another article about a young American forward who is about to break out on to the big stage.
But, something seems different about Terrence Boyd.
He is not a 14-year-old prodigy that found a plays amongst the professional leagues of Europe, nor is he a young star blooming in Major League Soccer giving American fans a taste of his talent with a big clubs in Europe lining up for signature.

Unlike Freddy Adu or Jozy Altidore before him, Boyd is learning his trade in the reserve squads of the German Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund.
That may be the reason why some American fans may not know who the 21-year-old German-born forward is. But, if you ask any expert on American soccer, Boyd may just be the next big thing.
If you look deeper at Boyd's success this season with Borussia Dortmund's reserve squad, you will see that not only is he performing very well with 11 goals in 17 games, but he is also in the right place for his development to continue successfully.
Borussia Dortmund's first team squad is chock full of the top young talent in Europe, which includes Lucas Barrios, Robert Lewandowski, Mario Goetze, Mats Hummels, Shinji Kagawa and Neven Subotic. This, however, is perfect for Boyd because he does not have to rush his development.
That has happened all too often with young American players like Adu and Altidore who have moved overseas too soon. Instead of developing more in MLS, they have sat on the bench in Portugal and Spain, respectively, and have been sent out on loan to other clubs in Europe for years before finally finding a permanent club.
By rushing the development of those players, they have failed to fully succeed and reach their potential when they were supposed to be the next best thing for the United States national team.
Now, Boyd has the perfect opportunity to continue developing through the Dortmund ranks and will be able to also play with some of Europe's top young players if he continues his success the German champions' reserve side.
With the likes of Landon Donovan and Clint Dempsey at the peaks of their career and with Boyd on the right path to reaching his full potential, Jurgen Klinsmann the American national team could see that Boyd is the next face of American soccer.
