Manchester United: 5 Most Disappointing Players so Far
Manchester United may be fighting for the Premier League title, but that doesn't mean all its players have been up to standards.
At least five of those footballers need to improve as fast as possible, or they may need to find another team for next season or just sit and warm the bench.
Sir Alex Ferguson has supported them despite their inconsistencies, but it's time for them to show why they are part of this club.
David De Gea
1 of 5After having a goalkeeper like Edwin van der Sar, Manchester United has been suffering with Spaniard David de Gea.
The 22-year-old has shown glimpses of his talent, but still is far from being a world-class keeper. He has progressed throughout the season, but there's a lot of room for improvement.
De Gea needs to work on his confidence and concentration. His aerial game has gotten better match by match, but he needs to focus on taking the ball, instead of just hitting it.
Rio Ferdinand
2 of 5It feels like Rio Ferdinand has lost his touch. The centre-back hasn't been up to his best, physically and mentally.
Ferdinand hasn't been as sharp, his passes tend to be erratic, and he can't hold the ball as much as he used to. He certainly needs to work on his technique, but also in the gym.
Without Nemanja Vidic around, and with the end of the season around the corner, he must step up.
Patrice Evra
3 of 5With Vidic out of the picture, Manchester United's defense is struggling, a lot.
Patrice Evra has had a shaky season so far, and despite a few good performances, he's far from his former self.
The Frenchman needs to recover his speed and strength, quick. It's not that he has lost them for good, but he's not as lethal as he used to be when he would help the offense on the left flank.
Anderson
4 of 5This season, injuries have plagued the 23-year-old Anderson. The midfielder needs to get back in shape as soon as possible.
He has the qualities of top Brazilian players—creativity, speed and technique—but hasn't capitalized on them.
He needs to start showing that despite his age, he has a mentality strong enough to control the ball and create plays without losing confidence.
Nani
5 of 5He used to be United's top winger and now he's just fading away. Luis Nani is going through a very strange phase, one that certainly hurts the team.
The Portugal international doesn't seem to be physically fit; he's slower and not as accurate as last season. He used to have assists on a regular basis—now that's just a sporadic accomplishment.
His last assist came against Norwich, and before that, he had a couple against Fulham back in December.
He needs to step up, as Antonio Valencia is still out with injury.
