The Rock: Why His WWE Return Will Stifle Pushes for Younger Stars

Jun 7, 2018

Fans wanted CM Punk vs. Chris Jericho to be the feud with the pipe bombs, but things are about to shift into the favor of The Rock and John Cena on tonight’s edition of WWE’s Monday Night Raw.

While many fans love the return of The Rock, it couldn’t be any worse of an idea.

The key for any and every company, no matter what the business is, should be to develop and further itself by investing in the future. When it comes to the wrestling business, that means giving the younger guys on the roster a push.

WWE officials have a hard time doing this anyway, just ask CM Punk and other stars how long it took them to get where they are now. With The Rock in the building, there is no telling just how long it will take to get a young star on TV.

It’s all about money and The Rock draws in the cash, I understand and accept this. My problem is that the WWE should be pushing stars like Dolph Ziggler or Kofi Kingston instead of letting Dwayne Johnson cut a 20-minute promo on John Cena.

As much as I want to see the old Rock return and really lay the verbal boots to asses, the promos Johnson has cut since starting this feud with Cena have been cheesy and very lame. At least if you are going to come back to fulfill your ego and get a cheap pop, at least make the material funny.

That’s not what happens, though.

Let me paint the picture; The Rock comes to the ring to talk about Fruity Pebbles and lady parts, but instead of getting the crowd to laugh along, he looks like a fool. All the while, young stars in the company sit in the back unused and their talent is squandered.

The Rock should just come out to Shane McMahon’s theme song because it’s obviously all about the money for the Rock. WWE money may not be the same as movie money, but The Rock can pretend for a night that he is still a man instead of a movie-star sellout.

While the marks in crowd and on the site will eat it up, The Rock has lost what made us love him in the first place. Now he just holds down the youth like Triple H.

Real nice, Rocky.
