Norwich City: 5 Things About Manchester United Defeat
Norwich City proved their point again this season with a thrilling effort against Manchester United.
The East Anglian side proved they are not scared of the Premier League champions, and with a bit more luck, the result could easily have gone the other way.
However, in the end, it was United that did just enough to 2-1, thanks to a stoppage time winner from Ryan Giggs.
Nevertheless, there are some keys point to focus on from the match. This slideshow should act as a review.
Grant Holt Is Deserving of a Place in the England Squad
1 of 5Grant Holt has proved to be a prolific goal-scorer at League Two, League One and Championship level. This season, the Norwich City striker has proved to be more than capable at Premier League level.
England will need four to five strikers to take with them to Euro 2012 who are all currently playing Premier League football. Wayne Rooney is the only stand-out option. Both Holt and Danny Graham have scored 10 Premier League goals.
However, for whatever reason, Darren Bent, Danny Welbeck and Frazier Campbell are considered better options. Strange considering England should pick on form and not reputation.
The Canaries striker outperformed Welbeck on Sunday afternoon. His 10th Premier League goals of the season was the least he deserved.
Lambert Made the Right Call to Bring Aaron Wilbraham on
2 of 5It was a surprise when Aaron Wilbraham came off the bench instead of Steve Morison on Sunday. However, the ploy worked.
The former MK Dons striker caused the Premier League champions a host of problems.
Two highlights were a header back to set up a chance and a long-range effort to bring the very best out of David de Gea in the Manchester United goal.
Simeon Jackson's Exit Was Premature
3 of 5Simeon Jackson had been a constant threat on the United defense throughout the first half. Therefore, it was a surprise to see him subbed at halftime.
I'm a fan of pace up front and thought Norwich lost that element after Jackson went off.
It would have been interesting to see what would have happened had Jackson stayed on longer.
Norwich Must Cut out Defensive Errors
4 of 5The Premier League is a ruthless business. and there are no prizes for creating the most chances and dominating possession.
Norwich played a good match, but lapses in concentration at the back led to the two United goals.
It only takes a second to slip, so the team must have had to stay switched on for the full 93-plus minutes.
However, Canaries Should Be Very Proud
5 of 5It is hard to be critical of the performance from the Canaries on Sunday. The players gave everything, and Sir Alex Ferguson knew his team had been in one hell of a game.
Norwich put crosses into the box and tested the United defense and goalkeeper throughout the game. This performance put out a clear message to the Premier League.
Whatever the team has done up to this point has not been a fluke. Norwich City look at home in the Premier League, and they are here to stay.
