Daytona 500 2012: Incliment Weather Will Give Kyle Busch Huge Advantage

Andrew KulhaFeb 26, 2012

The rain delay at the 2012 Daytona 500 is going to play right into the hand of superstar racer Kyle Busch.

While other drivers may struggle with the slick surfaces, Busch has proven himself to be arguably the most skilled driver in NASCAR. He's going to have no trouble controlling his car during the race.

Some may question how much rain or slick conditions will play into the race. After all, everybody driving is a professional, which means they should know how to handle their cars in any situation.

While I do agree with that statement, I still have to give the edge to Busch.

He just has something else that other drivers do not have. He's got the "it factor" when it comes to being a technical driver.

Look no farther than his incredible driving in the 2012 Budweiser Shooutout for proof of that statement:

For all intents and purposes he should have skidded out of that race or even flipped, but somehow he was able to regain control of his car at 200-plus miles an hour and go on to win the race.

It was an awesome piece of driving that even left his competitors impressed, according to George Diaz on ChicagoTribune.com:

"

Everybody had to be impressed. Drivers, journalists, even fans who hate "Rowdy" for his boorish attitude at times.

"I was right behind (Busch) when he had the deal in (Turns) 1 and 2 and he had to catch it three times before he saved it," Tony Stewart said. "When you get 3,400 pounds moving like that, to catch it one time was pretty big. To get away from him and catch it a second time was big. The third time was big."

"

He's the best driver in the world right now, and if he can drive his way out of that mess, I don't see how a little bit of rain is going to stop him.

While other drivers may play it cautious and drive conservative, I have no doubt that Busch will drive the same race he would had there never been a rain delay.

He's going to be fast, and he's going to drive bold. Even if the conditions do get rough, he has the talent and skill to overcome them.

This will be a huge advantage for Busch, and I expect him to come out on top because of it.
