The Top 15 Undefeated Fighters in MMA Today
They say you learn more from a loss than you do a win. Don't tell that to the fighters on this list, as they've yet to taste the sting of defeat in their MMA careers.
Every fighter's journey differs from one to the next, as some use their dominant wrestling while others have incredible standup skills.
Whatever method they choose to follow towards victory, these fighters have all emerged victorious in each of their bouts. The list includes rising prospects and respected champions. Everyone loses at some point in their career, but it's hard to see any of these fighters losing any time soon.
Jack Marshman
1 of 15Jack Marshman is the first and current BAMMA British Middleweight champion. He's also an active member of the British armed forces as a paratrooper.
At just 21 years of age, Marshman has racked up 10 wins with no losses. All of his fights up until his first title defense last December ended before the judges tallied their scorecards.
Marshman also took part in a MTV UK documentary that showcased British MMA and his preparations for his fight.
Stanislav Nedkov
2 of 15Competing as a virtual unknown in his native Bulgaria, Stanislav Nedkov rose to prominence in Japan under the World Victory Road promotion.
His UFC debut was scrapped multiple times due to injuries to himself and his opponents but at UFC 134, Nedkov finally stepped inside the Octagon.
He defeated Luiz Cane in convincing fashion, causing the Brazilian to launch himself into the cage before getting dropped by some thunderous punches from the Bulgarian.
Edson Barboza
3 of 15Edson Barboza has transitioned from a very successful kickboxing career to a very successful MMA career thus far.
Barboza made a successful UFC debut by stopping Mike Lullo via leg kicks in the final round. In his next two bouts, Barboza couldn't finish his opponents, but both were given Fight of the Night honors.
In his last bout, Barboza created a highlight reel finish when he knocked Terry Etim out cold with an impressive spinning kick. He will look to do the same to his next opponent, Evan Dunham, at UFC 146.
Tyron Woodley
4 of 15The former Division I All-American at Missouri, Tyron Woodley has become one of the hottest prospects in all of MMA.
Rumored to be mentioned in the conversation for the vacant Strikeforce Welterweight title, Woodley has won seven consecutive bouts under the Strikeforce banner. He holds wins over another touted prospect in Tarec Saffiedine and British bad boy Paul Daley.
Strikeforce has seemed hesitant to award Woodley with a title shot given the manner in which he's won, but with such a strong resume, it will be hard for the promotion to ignore Woodley for too much longer.
Cole Konrad
5 of 15A two-time NCAA Division I wrestling champion, Cole Konrad was the first and reigning Bellator Heavyweight champion.
Deceiving appearances aside, Konrad is a serious threat on the ground against virtually any heavyweight in Bellator.
In his last two bouts, Konrad submitted Neil Grove to win the title and defeated veteran Paul Buentello at Bellator 48.
Ben Askren
6 of 15"Funky" Ben Askren is one of the most decorated wrestlers in the sport of MMA today. A two-time NCAA Division I champion, Askren took his talents to the Olympics but ultimately fell short of winning a medal.
Changing career paths into the sport of MMA, Askren has been putting on a wrestling clinic against any unfortunate opponent that steps in the cage across from him. He defeated Dan Hornbuckle in Bellator's Season 2 welterweight tournament, which allowed Askren to challenge for the Bellator title.
After winning the title, Askren defended his belt against Jay Hieron and defeated Nick Thompson by unanimous decision. The Bellator champion doesn't receive as much credit as he probably deserves, but there's no denying "Funky" is one of the best fighters without a loss.
Shane Del Rosario
7 of 15Shane del Rosario holds the notable distinction of being the first American to win the WBC Muay-Thai World Heavyweight Championship. Del Rosario used his standup skills to win his first two bouts via TKO.
It was in Strikeforce that we saw del Rosario's game truly grow as he displayed his ability on the ground to go with his solid standup talents. Del Rosario has won via submission in two of his last three bouts, which include an omoplata and an armbar victory over Lavar Johnson.
The former Strikeforce prospect will be welcomed to the UFC's Octagon by Gabriel Gonzaga at UFC 146.
Travis Browne
8 of 15Prior to joining the UFC's ranks, Travis Browne amassed a 9-0 record that saw Browne win twice in under 10 seconds via KO and only allowing one bout to go to a decision.
Browne gained immediate fan support by taking out the much disliked James McSweeney in his UFC debut. The Hawaiian fighter continued his run of success by fighting former heavyweight contender Cheick Kongo to a draw and achieving Knockout of the Night award against Stefan Struve at UFC 130.
The heavyweight contender will take on the former Strikeforce fighter Chad Griggs at UFC 145.
Chris Weidman
9 of 15An accomplished Division I wrestler at Hofstra, Chris Weidman has emerged as a middleweight title contender.
Weidman caught a lot of MMA fans' eyes when he defeated UFC veteran Alessio Sakara in his UFC debut. Even more impressive was his technical submission win over Tom Lawlor via d'arce choke at UFC 139.
At the UFC on Fox 2 event, Weidman had a chance to put himself "in the mix" by putting on an impressive performance against Demian Maia. Weidman did take the fight on short notice and it looked to have a severe impact on his cardio.
Conditioning issues aside, Weidman still emerged victorious and could be challenging for the UFC Middleweight title by the end of 2012.
Stipe Miocic
10 of 15With a well-balanced attack that features Golden Glove-caliber striking and NCAA Division I wrestling, Stipe Miocic is one of the top prospects in the UFC's heavyweight division.
Miocic made a successful UFC debut against the rugged Joey Beltran at UFC 136. He followed his debut by securing Knockout of the Night by defeating Phil De Fries at the UFC on Fuel TV event.
The Cleveland native has only been to a decision once in his professional MMA career and will no doubt look to continue his unbeaten streak straight to a UFC title.
Stephen Thompson
11 of 15With only six professional MMA bouts under his belt, Stephen Thompson is a relative newcomer to the sport. But Thompson isn't new to the world of combat sports.
Only losing once as a kickboxer, Thompson made quite the debut in the UFC. "Wonderboy" landed a flush head kick that saw him not only win the bout, but be awarded Knockout of the Night.
One of the best kickboxers in the sport of MMA today, Thompson is expected to face Matt Brown at UFC 145.
Michael Chandler
12 of 15Amassing a 100-40 wrestling record at the University of Missouri, Michael Chandler jumped into the world of MMA immediately after graduating college.
Known for his dominant wrestling and crushing submissions, Chandler made it to the finals of the Bellator Lightweight tournament to face his toughest test up to that point in Patricky Freire. Chandler used his wrestling to take down the Brazilian and secured a future title shot against Eddie Alvarez.
In one of the best fights of 2011, Chandler and Alvarez engaged in a war that saw Chandler emerge victorious by submission in the fourth round.
Guram Gugenishvili
13 of 15Guram Gugenishvili has been running through opponents under the M-1 Global promotion. He is currently the Western Global Heavyweight Champion and the M-1 Heavyweight Champion.
The Georgian born fighter has only been to a decision once and has won an impressive seven of his 11 total bouts via rear-naked choke. Gugenishvili secured the M-1 Heavyweight title by making Kenny Garner pass out from a guillotine choke.
A devastating elbow injury has forced the champion to be put on the shelf for an extended period of time.
Ronda Rousey
14 of 15In one of the most anticipated bouts in Women's MMA history, Ronda Rousey emerged victorious against former champion Miesha Tate.
Rousey has been one of the most vocal competitors in all of MMA and has become the face of WMMA by winning the Strikeforce Women's Bantamweight championship
More impressive than Rousey's ability to hype a fight has been the manner in which she's won all five of her professional bouts: armbar. Tate promised to be ready for the armbar attempt but still couldn't prevent her arm from being folded like an accordion.
Daniel Cormier
15 of 15The former Olympic wrestling captain has had a great run through the Strikeforce promotion.
With only two bouts going to a decision in nine professional bouts, Cormier always looks for a finish. After winning his first seven bouts, Cormier was awarded with a reserve slot in the Strikeforce Heavyweight Gran Prix.
The AKA coach has moved from tournament alternate to tournament finalist after defeating Antonio "Bigfoot" Silva in shocking fashion.
