WWE News: The Rock Fires Back at His Haters

Imaan JalaliJun 1, 2018

As many fans are aware, The Rock has been the subject of a lot of flak in WWE circles.

Surprisingly, most of it has been of the negative variety about how Dwayne Johnson is not a man of the people, but in business for only himself.

On the Feb. 20 edition of RAW, several backstage wrestlers believed that many of John Cena's harsh words for "The Great One" were improvised and a reflection of his true sentiments.

The public excoriation by Cena spurred an anonymous rant by a current WWE wrestler who sent his malcontented missive to PWInsider.com.

In it (h/t Tpww.net), the mystery performer complains about how The Rock essentially comes and goes as he pleases, helping nobody except himself.

Also, he elaborates on how "The Brahma Bull" doesn't associate with the others backstage, doesn't get the blame for any failures (i.e., Survivor Series 2011 under-performing) and ultimately has no regard for the long-term outlook of the WWE beyond WrestleMania 28.

In conclusion, the unnamed, disgruntled employee makes the point about how, when push comes to shove, The Rock takes money out of the pockets of the full-time talent who could instead benefit from being in the spotlight.

Suffice it to say, the backstage resentment has lit a fire under the crossover superstar, who recently tweeted a pithy but loaded response.

It was prompted when a fan by the name of "Rollie" tweeted the following to The Rock:

"@The Rock- haters claim ur keeping them from wrestling @ Mania & they cant get over. Y couldnt they get over when u were gone? #Imjustsayin'"

The fan's question compelled "The People's Champion" to make his own frustrations public:

"

@da_other_man The ones who are complaining are the ones who will never get over anyway, Too busy complaining.

"

While The Rock's rejoinder to all the backlash is a tad strong, it does have a semblance of truth to it.

For instance, there is a difference between those who sit, complain and idly wait for their "big break" as opposed to the ones who take matters into their own hands.

Instead of piling on someone who has arguably brought more attention to the WWE since Hulk Hogan, it would behoove the wrestlers to use his presence as inspiration to carve their own niche in the company.

The best example is Zack Ryder, who was so relentless in his perseverance to get noticed that he was finally granted the opportunity to shine in a high-profile position.

Not to mention, given the fact The Rock's appearances on WWE TV and pay-per-view reach a higher-than-average audience, other performers should take advantage of and embrace the increased exposure.

At the end of the day, though, it's up to the lower and mid-carders what they do with the brighter-than-usual spotlight that "The Most Electrifying Man in Entertainment" affords them.

They can either grouse about another man taking "their spot" or they can step up to the plate and prove they belong with the very best.

Doubtless to say, The Rock will likely have more fighting words for John Cena and the rest of his critics on the upcoming RAW.
