In response to the move, Braun said the following, which was tweeted by ESPN's Steve Berthiaume.
"#Brewers Ryan Braun on today's decision; "It is the first step in restoring my good name and reputation.
— Steve Berthiaume (@SBerthiaumeESPN) February 23, 2012"
His full official statement was posted by the Brewers' website.
Braun won the National League's MVP last year, hitting .332 with 33 homers and 111 RBI, leading the Brewers to an NL Central title and the National League Championship Series.
This is especially great news for the Brew Crew, as they were already preparing to face this season without Prince Fielder. Losing Braun for 50 games could have easily spelled doom to their season before it ever began.
