Pacquiao vs. Bradley: Pac-Man Stands to Gain Nothing from June 9 Fight
Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather Jr. couldn't find a way to get in the ring together and now they're both fighting opponents that won't do anything for their legacies.
Well, actually, they can only hurt them.
The fight everyone wants to see is out of the picture for now and, quite possibly, the future as well.
Pac-Man has put a limit on the amount of years he wants to remain in the ring, while Floyd continues to battle legal trouble.
So, awaiting the Filipino fighter is undefeated American Timothy Bradley. The 28-year-old is 28-0 and easily the most difficult opponent outside of Mayweather for Pacquiao right now.
The problem is that nobody really knows or cares much about him.
He is the current WBO Light Welterweight Champion and a two-time WBC light welterweight champion.
Pacquiao and Bradley will fight for Pac-Man's WBO welterweight title at the MGM Grand.
The last time Bradley fought at welterweight, he defeated Luis Abrega by unanimous decision in a non-title fight.
Bradley will be a solid test for Pacquiao, but when all is said and done in Pac-Man's career (assuming he wins), it won't be anything but another win.
This isn't to say he should have run from any fight other than Mayweather, but there is no question that this fight can only hurt him.
Pacquiao is struggling to find opponents worth fighting and although Bradley has a chance to actually win this fight, this bout won't be remembered unless Bradley actually wins.
