NFL Rumors: 49ers Must Avoid Sinking Big Money into WR Position
The 49ers have to avoid addressing their glaring weakness at receiver with a big time free agent signing. This doesn't mean they should turn a blind eye to this hole, but that they need to do it fiscally.
There is no debating the fact that the 49ers need a playmaker that can help take the top off of the defense and stretch the field.
This will not only add potency to their passing attack, it will make it easier for them to go to their bread and butter of the ground game.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Last season, Michael Crabtree was the only receiver with more than 20 catches. Crabtree is not the kind of receiver that is going to scare teams on deep passes.
ESPN's John Clayton agrees this team needs WR, and that they don't need to spend big to do it.
""They do need some help at wide receiver, but I don't see them paying for a No. 1 receiver. Crabtree was drafted to be a No. 1 receiver, but his game must get better. They can look for free agents in the $4 million to $5 million a year range instead of paying big dollars.
They have a great tight end in Vernon Davis. A complementary receiver would be a good addition, either in the draft or in free agency, but I don't think they have to go crazy in spending to get one."

San Francisco can't forget what made them great this year, their defense. They can't lose sight of this by dropping big money into their offense.
They need to keep their focus on maintaining the strength of their team.
They can go about filling holes in their offense in another matter. They can go for more of a bargain free agent receiver, or grab a guy in the draft that can stretch the field.
San Francisco cannot be lured by the pull of a star receiver. They simply need to get a competent one.
