MMA: Best One-Punch Knockout Artist by Division
The one-punch knockout is the weapon that can decide a fight in the mere blink of the eye. It can salvage a losing effort for a fighter and dazzle the masses.
There are not an influx of one-punch knockout artists that encompass the MMA world, but those who possess the gift of knocking people out on a dime are fortunate for such a tool.
Let's take a look at the best one-punch knockout fighter by division.
Bantamweight: Brian Bowles
1 of 7The Bantamweight division does not have many knockout artists, but Brian Bowles carries the torch for the division.
Although extremely well rounded and owning six submission victories, Bowles has the capability to end fights with one punch. His knockouts of Marcos Galvao and Miguel Torres are a testament to the power he possesses in his hands.
Bowles currently does not have a fight booked, but he is 2-1 since entering the UFC.
Featherweight: Jose Aldo
2 of 7Jose Aldo can knock you out with a variety of moves, including knees and kicks, but he definitely has the capability of one-punch knockouts.
Aldo defended his title against Manny Gamburyan with a beautiful knock out due to punches. As said, Aldo is more known for his knees than his one-punch knockout power, but believe me, it's there.
Aldo is currently awaiting his next opponent to defend his title. All signs point to the winner of Dustin Poirier and Chan-Sung Jung, which is an excellent, exciting fight on UFC on FUEL 3.
Lightweight: Jeremy Stephens
3 of 7Jeremy Stephens has TNT in both of his hands.
Stephens is the poster boy for one-punch knockouts in the Lightweight division, treating us to several in his UFC tenure, including crippling knock outs of Rafael dos Anjos and Marcus Davis.
The Davis fight is especially a great example of one-punch knockout power turning the tides of a fight, as up until the moment the knock out happened, Stephens was losing the first two rounds.
Stephens currently is without an opponent, but is eager to hop back in the octagon to showcase that incredible power.
Welterweight: Carlos Condit
4 of 7Throughout Carlos Condit's long and prosperous career, he has shown dynamite in his hands.
Though having the capability of knocking opponents out with kicks and knees as well, Condit's punching power is sickening. For proof, watch his fight with Dan Hardy, where he utilized a great counter left hook to down the brash Brit.
Condit is now the interim champion of the Welterweight division, so expect to see his opponents avoid his heavy hands if they want a shot at beating him.
Middleweight: Anderson Silva
5 of 7The man knocked out Forrest Griffin with a back step jab. That is how powerful Silva is.
Known for his devastating knees and kicks, Silva should not be unrecognized for the fact that he can put an opponent to sleep with one punch. His striking is so good that he looks like he never even tries.
His next opponent is arch nemesis Chael Sonnen, so he will definitely need to bring his one-punch KO power to that fight, or else it could be a long night for "The Spider."
Light Heavyweight: Dan Henderson
6 of 7Although I hate the nickname, the "H-Bomb" may be the most devastating knock out puncher in mixed martial arts.
Dan Henderson has finished a vast amount of opponents with his coveted right hand, putting away such names as Fedor Emelianenko, Michael Bisping and Wanderlei Silva. His power is unbelievable, shattering any jaw that stands in its path.
Henderson is currently without an opponent, but some think that he is within reach of a title shot. We will have to see where he goes from here.
Heavyweight: Junior Dos Santos
7 of 7Possessing the best boxing skills in MMA, Junior dos Santos has devastating power in his hands.
Throwing one-punch knockouts at names such as Fabricio Werdum, Gilbert Yvel and Cain Velasquez, dos Santos has established himself as one of the most powerful punchers in the world.
He won his Heavyweight championship in a brutal one punch knock out of the aforementioned Velasquez, ending their fight quickly. He is scheduled to make his first defense against Alistair Overeem sometime this year.
