Klitschko vs. Chisora Weigh In: Challenger Will Get Slapped Around by Vitali

Ryan RudnanskyFeb 17, 2012

Headed into the weigh-in on Friday, Dereck Chisora was seen as a young, fearless boxer who had the potential to turn the tables on Vitali Klitschko.

But during the weigh-in, Chisora dug his own grave.

In the inevitable staredown before Saturday's fight in Munich, Chisora decided to slap Klitschko's face. The funny thing is, Klitschko didn't even flinch.

If Chisora thought he could get into Klitschko's head, he may as well throw away that strategy now because he's in for a rude awakening...or rude sleep, however you want to put it.

Chisora unloaded on Klitschko before the fight, via ESPN:

"

"The Klitschko team don't like me because I'm wild and unpredictable and I'm not like any of the other challengers that bow down in front of them. It scares them because they have no control over me.

"The way I'm going to fight, he won't be able to keep up with the pace I'm going to set. It will be at a hundred miles an hour, and his old legs won't be able to keep up.

"I'm not scared of him. He's human, he bleeds and so do I. I'm looking forward to this now, it's so close.

"It's the end for Vitali. I promise you, I will end the Klitschko reign and cause a massive upset in my magic round (eight) that will be felt around the world."

"

But one thing Chisora doesn't realize, or apparently chooses to ignore, is that Klitschko has been down this road before, hearing all of his opponents' chatter before he knocks them cold. In 45 fights, he's 43-2 with 40 knockouts. In world title fights, he's 13-2, with 11 knockouts.

Klitschko reacted to Chisora's comments, via ESPN:

"

"I'm looking into Chisora's eyes and I see a young fighter who wants to win the world title. When he said that he was going to finish me in Round 8, I realized that this guy is serious and I have never prepared as hard for a fight.

"But I've told him that he's not the one to stop me. No one can. I'm going to show everyone why I am the champion and why I have ruled for so long."

"

What Chisora doesn't realize is that he's actually hurt himself before he even steps into the ring on Saturday. He's made Klitschko mindful that he means business, and in return, Klitschko is going to be completely prepared for this fight. You can throw the notion that Chisora is going to surprise the 40-year-old right out the window.

Obviously, Klitschko still has plenty of knockout power left in those 40-year-old hands. He's also way more experienced than Chisora (who has fought a grand total of 17 bouts). He's also more poised, as evidenced by Friday's weigh-in.

What does it mean?

It means that Chisora is going to shoot in for the kill like he did against Robert Helenius and, in turn, get knocked out. Unlike Helenius, Klitschko makes you pay if you lunge at him, and Chisora will be so excited that he won't even know what hit him.

When all is said and done, Klitschko will do much worse to Chisora than merely slapping him.
