Randy Moss: Moss to the Philadelphia Eagles Would Be a Complete Disaster

Ryan PhillipsFeb 14, 2012

The Philadelphia Eagles had mountainous expectations heaped on them heading into the 2011 season. They proceeded to completely fall apart largely due to those expectations and a grouping of strong personalities that didn't exactly help foster team chemistry.

With that in mind, adding a guy like Randy Moss to the team would be a complete disaster.

Forget the fact that the Eagles need to figure out what they are doing with their own receivers—especially DeSean Jackson.

Adding Moss to the mix would prove to be a huge distraction. Not only would there be a ton of media following him everywhere just to see if he says or does anything outrageous, but the stories would pour out about whether he was fitting in, etc.

Philadelphia doesn't need yet another distraction.

The Eagles finished the season strong with a four-game winning streak after starting a dismal 4-8. Maybe they figured things out as the season went along and will be ready to compete when the 2012 season kicks off.

If that's the truth and people around the team believe that, adding a guy like Moss, who is always a lightning rod for controversy, would be a horrible idea.

In addition to that, Moss turned 35 on Monday, and his best days are far behind him. What could really be expected from him at this age, and after missing an entire season of football?

No one is denying that Moss is one of the best to ever lace them up at the receiver position. He is a seven-time Pro Bowler and a five-time All-Pro pick. He had a phenomenal career.

But, adding Moss to an Eagles roster that already has so many strong personalities could only lead to disaster. Philadelphia would do best to pass on bringing him into the fold.
