Pacquiao vs. Bradley: Why Bradley's Strong Words Will Lead to Humiliation
Timothy Bradley has a right to believe he can beat any boxer in the world, but his strong comments against Manny Pacquiao will come back to haunt him.
Calling out the beast was a huge mistake by Bradley, because now Pacquiao is going to make him pay.
The two boxers are scheduled to fight on June 9 in at MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Since Bradley is undefeated at 28-0, of course he's going to be a little cocky.
You want to be that way as a fighter, but being realistic is also a smart move, because if you aren't, your opponent will annihilate you. Thinking you have a fight won before it's ever started is good only if you can honestly beat your opponent.
Bradley's extremely bold and brash comments about his upcoming fight with Pacquiao can be found in the Los Angeles Times:
"He can be beat. I just need to get in there and follow my game plan. I know his weaknesses, his favorite combinations. In my mind, I'm definitely going to win. I'll take it to this guy.
It's harder for Pacquiao to land his shots now, and you even saw that in the [May 2011] Shane Mosley fight. Look, Marquez had Pacquiao's number, and Marquez is 38 and past his prime."
I'm younger, stronger and faster than Marquez. This will be no walk in the park for Manny Pacquiao.
"
You have to admire Bradley's confidence, but let's not forget who he is fighting. Pacquiao is arguably the best pound-for-pound boxer in the world today. He's not going to take kindly to these strong words from a no-name boxer.
Sure, Pac-Man may be older, but with that comes knowledge and experience. To me, these comments from Bradley are a sign of immaturity, and Pacquiao will punish him.
It's a huge slap in the face to essentially say Pacquiao has lost his step. This was a bad move on Bradley's part because it will infuriate Pac-Man.
Bradley is challenging Pacquiao with his words, but Pac-Man will show the young boxer that the fighting is done with fists.
I don't expect Pacquiao to retaliate verbally, but rather in the ring on June 9. If anyone is going to say anything, it will most likely be his trainer, Freddie Roach.
Hopefully Bradley won't build off these statements and say more stupid things he will later regret. He doesn't need to add anymore fuel to the fire.
Bradley's comments will force Pacquiao to work even harder, which won't end well for the man they call Desert Storm.
