Tony Romo: Tiger Woods Pairing at Pebble Beach Pro-Am Won't Make QB a Winner

Wes ODonnellFeb 9, 2012

In 2009, Tony Romo was named Golf Digest's best athlete-golfer.

That is about the only thing he's been considered "the best" at since becoming the Dallas Cowboys' quarterback. Well, that and arguably being the best choke artist in the NFL, of course.

Tony Romo is a winner of regular-season games, but not when it matters most. He's led the Cowboys to only one postseason win during his reign under center, despite putting up great regular-season numbers.

That win was the only one the Cowboys have had in the last 15 years, but Jerry Jones isn't in the business of just winning playoff games.

Why he's given Romo the leash he has in the last few years makes sense to only a select few.

However, getting away from the gridiron and onto the links brings out a different Tony Romo.

Today, he and Tiger Woods get their start at the Pebble Beach Pro-Am in what is the former No. 1 golfer in the world's first PGA tournament of the year.

Woods has been up and down but has been much better in recent tournaments around the world.

His 14 major championships and natural winning ways are something that cannot be replicated. Putting situations off the course aside, Woods is one of the greatest winners in sports history.

He's clutch and not afraid to put his foot on his opponent's throat.

Woods is basically everything Romo isn't when the game is on the line.

Unfortunately, this week with Woods won't help the QB figure it out any better.
