LeBron: Kendrick Perkins Blasts LeBron for Dunk Tweet & LeBron Fires Right Back

Peter EmerickJun 7, 2018

Kendrick Perkins needs to relax.

He got absolutely posterized By Blake Griffin with one of the greatest dunks NBA fans have every seen, and he responded to it with his typical tough guy mentality.  When asked about the dunk, Perkins said,

"I'd jump up again and again, I don't care ... I ain't going to change.  The guys that move out of the way and stuff are the people with the insecurity problems ..."

Okay Perkins, we get it.  You're trying to act tough, but the point is, you don't have to be.

The way Perkins should have responded to all this dunk hoopla is to just role with the punches and have fun with it.  Instead Perkins takes it all to the next level, acting like he's the toughest S.O.B in the NBA, and he's the only one who's not afraid of Blake Griffin.

Perkins didn't stop after calling out every player who's decided they don't want to be on a Blake Griffin poster.  He went on to call out LeBron James who was pretty excited about the posterization, just like 99.9% of all NBA fans.  Perkins had this to say to LeBron

"You don’t see Kobe [Bryant] tweeting. You don’t see Michael Jordan tweeting. If you’re an elite player, plays like that don’t excite you. At the end of the day, the guys who are playing for the right reasons who are trying to win championships are not worrying about one play ... [James] is always looking for attention and he wants the world to like him."

Sorry Perkins, I didn't know you were the head of the No Fun Police.

So instead of just letting Perkins' comments fall by the wayside, LeBron did exactly what he needed to and called Perkins out for being the little baby that he is. LeBron had this to say about Perkins' response to his tweet:

"I would never apologize about anything like that when I'm connecting to my fans ... "Did I call him out? I mean, did you read the tweet? Did I call him out? I can see why he felt embarrassed. I don't think I was the only one to react to the unbelievable play by Blake and that's what it was all about,"

LeBron couldn't have responded any more perfectly.  The fact of the matter is that LeBron was excited about the dunk, he never called Perkins out in any way, shape or form.  If LeBron had tweeted something like,  "Wow, Perkins, you're the worst. Don't bring your weak game in my house. I'm the chosen one baby. #Perkinsisoverrated", then this would be a different story.

LeBron didn't put Perkins on blast though, he simply got excited about one of the greatest dunks in NBA history, yet again LeBron becomes the villain in the situation.

LeBron, you're right.  You shouldn't apologize for loving the game enough to be connected with your fans and you shouldn't apologize for respecting another player's accomplishments.

The only thing LeBron needs to do about this situation is apologize to Perkins in advance for how hard he's going to take it to him when the two meet up in Oklahoma City on Mar. 25th.

LeBron responded exactly how he needed to, by telling Kendrick Perkins just how ridiculous he is for getting so worked up about something that wasn't all that bad.

Sure, Perkins got posterized, but if he would have laughed about it and given Blake Griffin serious props for the mind-boggling dunk this all could have been avoided.

I know LeBron haters are loving the fact that Perkins put him on blast, and while LeBron will undoubtedly be painted as the villain here, Perkins in all reality is the one who just needs to relax.

I can't wait to see what LeBron has up his sleeve for Perkins when the Heat show up in OKC.  Maybe instead of posterizing him, he'll just jump clear over him.

LeBron, if you do that, make sure not to tweet about it.  If you do, you'll hurt Perkins feelings.
