Former Bucs Quarterbacks Coach Shoop to Interview for Team's OC Position Today
John Shoop, former Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback coach and current University of North Carolina offensive coordinator, is scheduled to interview for the Buccaneers' offensive coordinator position, according to Fox Sports.
Shoop has been the offensive coordinator at UNC for the past five seasons, where he has developed Hakeem Nicks into a stud at wide receiver and T.J. Yates into a respectable quarterback who played surprisingly well for the Houston Texans after Matt Leinart and Matt Schaub went down with injury.
Before that, Shoop was the quarterbacks coach in Tampa in 2004 under Jon Gruden.
This won't be Shoop's first stint as an offensive coordinator in the NFL if he lands the job, as he served as the Chicago Bears OC from 2001-2003.
This is interesting because Shoop obviously worked under former UNC head coach Butch Davis for the past few years and Davis has been rumored to be in the mix for the defensive coordinator job in Tampa.
Could there be a Shoop and Davis reunion brewing in Tampa?
