Clint Eastwood 2012 Super Bowl Commercial a Smart Move for Chrysler
February 6, 2012
Once in a while, a Super Bowl ad comes along that really blows you away. Chrysler did just that in Super Bowl XLVI, using Clint Eastwood's talents to essentially lift the spirits of Americans everywhere.
Chrysler's "It's Halftime in America" ad showed the struggles of this nation, but also how this country won't go down with a fight.
It made me proud to be an American, and that's why Chrysler wins big with this ad. Not only do you feel for the people hurting, but the commercial also makes you want to do right and come out strong in the second half of your life.
Eastwood really hits home, as the tone in his voice is perfect with what he's discussing. It's been hard times for the people of this country, but that's never a reason to give up.
If you haven't seen the video, please, do yourself a favor and watch below and be prepared to see one of the best Super Bowl commercials ever.
Were you overcome with a sense of pride and the urge to accomplish great things?
Even though it may be a car commercial, it reminds us all that nothing comes easy in life and you have to fight to get through it.
It's a bold move for Chrysler to not heavily feature their product line, but having Eastwood narrate it makes the viewer stay focused and alert on the message.
"This country can't be knocked down with one punch. We get right back up again. And when we do, the world's gonna hear the roar of our engines. Yeah, it's halftime America, and our second half's about to begin."
The best line of the commercial is near the end, and if that didn't get you pumped to live, then perhaps you don't have a pulse. Life is short, and if your second half is about to begin, it's time to make the most of it.
One wouldn't think that a Super Bowl ad would reach the depths of pain America is battling, only to show that rising up is possible no matter what is going on.
Chrysler competed against other car companies during the Super Bowl, and instead of quick gimmicks, using sex appeal or shelling out a ton of money for a truly meaningless ad, Chrysler makes you think about not only the trials and tribulations Detroit has gone through and is overcoming, but also the things you're battling through as well.
So go forth and give life all you've got. After all, the clock is winding down and the ball is in your hands. What are you going to do with it?
