NBA Rumors: Joel Przybilla to Miami Heat Would Be Ideal Upgrade
The Miami Heat need role players to win the 2012 NBA championship. They have the star power, three-point potential and will to win, but they need a player who will be willing to do the dirty work inside.
Insert Joel Przybilla.
At 7’1”, Przybilla brings the size, strength and willingness to do whatever it takes to win games in the NBA. After losing out on the Kenyon Martin sweepstakes, Miami signing Przybilla would be an ideal signing going forward.
Miami is making a push for the 11-year NBA veteran, according to Brian Windhorst of ESPN.
In 2010-11, he averaged two points and four rebounds for the Charlotte Bobcats and Portland Trail Blazers. For his career, he averages four points and six rebounds per contest.
Obviously we are talking about a minuscule upgrade but to win a title, it’s the role players that make the whole team gel into a championship team. For example, Leon Powe was unbelievable during the Boston Celtics championship run. We haven’t heard much from him since.
Miami is 15th in rebounding, averaging 42 per game; they are using Joel Anthony as their center for the time being. Przybilla could at least come off the bench to help with stamina and effort levels on a shortened schedule.
He has proven to be an effort guy who is willing to do anything in order to bring victories to his team. That’s exactly what Miami needs in order to strive for championship glory.
Przybilla will do the little things that nobody will notice. If anything, he will give you size and hustle from a position that generally only carries one of those traits. He wouldn’t mind coming off the bench so he would definitely be of help from a depth standpoint.
Signing Przybilla doesn’t guarantee a championship or even help the Heat make another NBA Finals. But there is one thing for certain—it wouldn’t hurt.
