EPL: The Biggest Winners and Losers After Saturday's Premier League Action
With Saturday's Premier League results in the books we have seen Arsenal get their mojo back, Man City assert themselves at the top of the league, and a good day for Swansea and Norwich.
Sunderland's resurgence under Martin O'Neill continued with a victory away to Stoke and Everton got a late goal to avoid defeat at Wigan.
So who came out of the day as the biggest winners and losers?
Do you agree with my picks? Comment below.
Biggest Winner: Arsenal
1 of 4After a stuttering couple of weeks, Arsenal got their campaign for a Champions League berth back on track with a dominating 7-1 victory over Blackburn Rovers.
A Robin van Persie hat-trick, a brace from Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, and one each from Mikel Arteta and Thierry Henry sent Arsenal to an important morale-boosting win.
Arsene Wenger's men were in danger of letting the coveted fourth place spot get away from them after only one point in their last four games.
Although the teams around them have got a game in hand. Arsenal now lie fifth with only two points separating them and Chelsea.
The pressure is now on Andre Villas-Boas's team (who are also in patchy form) to get a result against Man United tomorrow.
2nd Biggest Winner: Wolves' Transfer Policy
2 of 4Today's game at Loftus Road was a clash of clubs with very differing moves in the January transfer window.
QPR came into the match bolstered by their new strike force of Bobby Zamora and Djibril Cisse. They were two of four new transfers costing £11 million.
By contrast Wolves came into the match with only two new players, both brought to the club on loan.
Yet it was McCarthy's men who came out on top, courtesy of a Kevin Doyle late strike.
Wolves are one of the few financially responsible teams left in the top tier of English football. If in a worst case scenario they are relegated, they will be able to bounce back.
QPR could find themselves in deep trouble though. They are spending way beyond their means for a team whose attendances are below 20,000, and are just a plaything of owner Tony Fernandes.
Biggest Loser: Blackburn Rovers
3 of 4Kean couldn't have cut a more contrasting figure from the man who celebrated with Yakubu in the 4-3 win last September.
With the top-earners at the club being moved on in free transfers, or staying on the bench so bonuses don't have to be paid, Kean has a depleted squad and his team looks destined for the drop.
While most find it astonishing that Kean has managed to keep his job thus far, it looks like he may be there for some time before he is made a scapegoat for the club's failures.
The blame at this point lies completely with the club's owners, who should have moved him on long ago.
2nd Biggest Loser: Bolton
4 of 4Bolton's troubles worsened today when they lost by two goals to high-flying Norwich.
The Trotters have been in good form following wins against Everton and Liverpool. Today's result brings that to an end and puts them back in the relegation zone.
Owen Coyle's men now go into a game where they will face fellow stragglers Wigan in a six-pointer. Then they go on a tough run against Chelsea, Man City and QPR.
Without points against Wigan and QPR, Bolton will be in serious trouble.
