WWE Smackdown Elimination Chamber Match: Ranking the 6 Participants
On WWE Raw, it was announced that Daniel Bryan would be defending his World Title inside the Elimination Chamber in Milwaukee! A lot of folks immediately began trying to fill the slots for the match.
Well, the wrestlers have been named. The Smackdown spoilers are out, and I will be discussing each participant and his chance at winning the gold. Usually, I do not dive into spoilers for Smackdown, but I am not sure I will be available this weekend for my "Good, bad and ugly" article.
Thus, I will be covering the Blue Brand as much as I can before then. Here are my rankings, and do not forget, spoilers ahead!
No Mark Henry!
1 of 7Thank you, WWE!
It is about time. This man has needed to be off television for close to two months now. Go home, Mark! Heal up, get healthy and return in the same dominating fashion we know and love.
Limping around the ring. Sparingly used. Often times "booked" to be worked around. Nobody wants to see that. You shouldn't have even been out there.
I respect you for working through the injuries, but WWE had to step in. Get well, big man!
Safety comes first.
6. Cody Rhodes
2 of 7Yes, he is the long shot in this match.
Cody Rhodes is already the Intercontinental Champion. There is no reason for him to become a World Champion as well in the next month. Just no way I see it...
His future is bright, but I really wish WWE does not rush anything with him. Throwing in the main event scene before it is time will do more harm than good.
Give him time. He will be a main event star. It just won't happen anytime soon. He has too many other options lined up for WrestleMania.
5. Great Khali
3 of 7I have no problem with his inclusion.
The Great Khali is a future WWE Hall of Fame inductee. He is fresh off a return at the Royal Rumble and is in everybody's minds. Good or bad, people are talking about him.
Also, Khali has been in a Chamber match before. Do not forget that! He did just fine a few years ago, and I expect the same in 2012. It won't be much, but he will have a purpose.
Khali won't win. That is why he is ranked No. 5 here. That being said, why is there an uproar over this move? You talk about negativity on Twitter? Check out last night's reaction to this news. Wow. I could never live like that. Positive thoughts, folks! it goes a long way in life...
I have said it over and over—being a "great wrestler" means very little in this business. Name anybody you want in there instead of Khali.
Ted DiBiase is nowhere near ready. Christian needs a reason to return, not as just some random wrestler in a match he won't win anyways. No, Chrisitan wouldn't win this. That leaves Brodus Clay? Hunico?
It won't matter. Khali fits perfectly, and I will be cheering him on live in Milwaukee!
4. Big Show
4 of 7Honestly, I just don't see Big Show winning the World Title again. He got a nice run at TLC, lasting 45 seconds. That is about all I see for him.
He still has to be a favorite, though. Big Show is a face and has fan support. After months and months of feuding with Bryan, he just may shock the world and become champion again.
3. Wade Barrett
5 of 7He is the dark horse of this match.
We know Sheamus is getting a World Title match. That will happen after the Elimination Chamber PPV event. Thus, logic would dictate a heel champion for the Blue Brand.
Wade Barrett vs. Sheamus at 'Mania? I would love to see that. The Barrett Barrage is looking for a World Title, and it may happen in a few weeks.
2. Randy Orton
6 of 7I am not a fan of doing too many "face vs. face" matches in WWE.
However, Randy Orton vs. Sheamus for the World Title has "money" written all over it. Imagine Orton winning at the Elimination Chamber PPV and having to face off against Sheamus come April 1st, 2012.
Wow!
1. Daniel Bryan
7 of 7Daniel Bryan is the current World Heavyweight Champion. That alone makes him the favorite going into this match. I know there is no "champion's advantage," but a champion retains more often than not.
Again, you have to look forward to 'Mania. Sheamus is waiting for an opponent. More than likely, it is coming from the Blue Brand.
Bryan vs. Sheamus? Sign me up! Both men have been doing some great work the past few weeks, and it would definitely be a classic "heel vs. face" storyline that I love.
Love him or hate him, Daniel Bryan is the odds-on favorite to walk out of the Chamber with gold in his possession on February 19th, 2012.
