Media Day Mayhem and My Fake Brady: BR5 2/1
Welcome to BR5—your source for sports and pop culture news.
Today’s episode of BR5 gets you up to date on everything from a fake Tom Brady to a dunk that shattered twitter.
Hot reporters, superhero costumes, sombreros, and the same questions answered over and over…just another Super Bowl media day. One of the most notable story lines is still the status of Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski's ankle, which he addressed no less than 27 times...in just the first 4 minutes. And, we learned important Super Bowl information such as: Vince Wilfork likes fruity pebbles, Eli and Peyton still sleep in bunk beds when they visit the folks, and Tom Brady's sisters used to dress him in their clothes and paint his nails.
Baron Davis is ready for his close-up. Most Knicks fans would rather have their new and injured point guard preparing for his New York basketball debut. Instead, Davis is acting with Betty White and pitching a reality-based sitcom. The Basketball Jones reports BD is shopping a self-produced TV pilot titled “I Love Boom” that Davis describes as “Curb Your Enthusiasm meets Entourage.”
Tom Brady has a twin. Kind of. Yahoo Sports says Nick Lower, from Columbia, Missouri, was “mistaken” for Tom Brady at yesterday’s media day. Why did Nick get confused for the Patriots QB? Maybe because they have the same color hair, they're both white guys, and also, Lower was wearing cleats, eye black, shoulder pads and a Tom Brady Patriots jersey. When asked what it was like to be interviewed and mistaken for Brady, Lower said, "I didn't really expect this."
Apparently, Blake Griffin's monster dunk broke Kendrick Perkins' Twitter account. In the wake of the posterization, Kendrick reportedly shut down his account. Who can blame the guy? He and Griffin have been trending since the moment the dunk went down. One fan tweeted, "BREAKING NEWS: KENDRICK PERKINS IS OUT 2 TO 3 WEEKS WITH HURT FEELINGS…" Even rapper Lil' Wayne who rarely tweets got in on it: "DAM BLAKE!"
Some people just never want the game to end; so much so, this soccer fan handcuffed himself to the goal post at the Manchester City-Everton match! The stoppage of play brought boos from the crowd, as well as puzzled looks from the players and policemen, who were trying to figure out what the hell was going on.
