ESPNU 150 2012: Josh Harvey-Clemons and Unheralded Studs Yet to Commit
ESPN puts out a list of the top 150 recruits in the nation, and before every National Signing Day, that list is scrutinized like it’s going out of style.
While most of the top recruits in the nation are committed to schools, there are many that do not know where they will be furthering their education on and off the field.
The following top recruits have yet to pick, but just because you don’t know who they are now doesn’t mean they won’t blow your mind later on. Keep an eye out.
Josh Harvey-Clemons
One of the brightest recruits left to commit is Josh Harvey-Clemons from Valdosta, Ga. The 6’4”, 210-pound young man has a huge frame with room to grow and will be a stellar recruit for any school to get.
The key will be finding a position for him to play that suits his style. While there is a small chance he could plan on offense as a tight end, odds are, he will end up on defense where he belongs.
With his incredible size and speed, there is no more perfect spot that as a pass-rushing outside linebacker. Teams like Florida, Georgia and South Carolina have offered the young man scholarships, but no decision has been made.
Stefon Diggs
For those who do not know, Stefon Diggs is a 6’0”, 185-pound running back from Maryland that is the envy of many the recruiter. Not only is he a speed demon, he is as agile as a cat.
With the ability to run the ball or play wide receiver, Diggs has the body and ability comparable to a player like Percy Harvin when he played with the Florida Gators. If Diggs can become half the player Harvin was, there will be a very lucky school when he finally commits.
With Florida and Auburn recently visited, Diggs has a tough choice to make between all of the schools that have made offers to one of the most promising stars in the past 10 years.
Tracy Howard
There may be no cornerback this year being recruited harder than teams are going after Florida cornerback Tracy Howard. The 5’11”, 175-pound defensive back knows what position he will play and has already started to hone his craft.
While that doesn’t seem like that big of an advantage, Howard will walk into whatever program finally lands him and be one of the best on the field. His excellent zone coverage abilities are only matched by his talents one-on-one.
With teams like Florida, Florida State and Auburn knocking down the door, Howard will be on the NFL radars soon enough. First, he has to pick a college.
