Manchester United Were Right to Not Make Any Big Moves This Transfer Window
After yet another month of speculation with numerous ridiculous rumors and endless drama, we saw a relatively quiet winter transfer window come to an end with no megastars such as a Fernando Torres leaving.
For some clubs, making a move in the transfer window is essential to ensure that they will be able to accomplish their goals, yet we saw Manchester United remain relatively quiet this January.
Instead of pursuing big names and using up a lot of money to get these players, United instead made three decisions that will help out the club for both the immediate and long-term future.

The first move dealt with improving United's immediate future by having Paul Scholes come out of retirement to reinforce the midfield.
Having Scholes come out of retirement to help out in an otherwise weak midfield appeared to be a skeptical move. Scholes had previously retired after the 2011 Champions League final and had not played in a match in months.
Yet getting Scholes has already provided leadership with United only losing once since his return after losing the previous two matches before his arrival.
Scholes has also continued to show that his passing ability is still great. So far this season, Scholes' passing accuracy is at 89 percent, one of the highest on the club.
But most of all, Scholes will only play for a short period of time. It is not like United are trusting their entire future to a 37-year-old player. Instead, Scholes is just a temporary part that will probably not be used after this season is completed.
The other two moves that will affect United dealt with letting Darron Gibson to move to Everton and Mame Biram Diouf moving to Hannover 96.
Both Gibson and Diouf did appear at the beginning of 2010 to be two of the most important players in United's future, but both have since found themselves out of favor.
This mainly has happened because United have purchased players that have performed better than the pair and have fit more into the Manchester United system.
Now both players will get their chances to play everyday at clubs that will not harm United's immediate chances of winning titles.
Historically speaking, United have not pursued many players during the winter transfer window. In the last four seasons that United won the Premier League, only two prominent players came to United; an on-loan Henrik Larsson and goalkeeper Anders Lindegaard.
By not acquiring new players, United are able to keep their team chemistry together and can win the league without any new faces coming in, something that certainly shows why United are so successful.
By getting rid of excess baggage and returning a player that has already won the league 10 times with the club, United have already bolstered their chances of winning the league again.
After all, United have already proved it in the past that this sort of work will help them to win titles.
