National Signing Day 2012: Tracking the Top 25 Offensive Linemen Prospects
Many claim that the QB is the important player on the team, which I can't really argue with. But the most important unit on a team, in my opinion, is the offensive line.
I'm going to finish up our top 25 board trackers with updates and give you the latest on my top 25 OL prospects.
Let's start this.
25. Lacy Westbrook (UCLA)
1 of 25Westbrook re-confirmed his pledge to the Westwood program a few weeks ago. He's ready to go for the Bruins.
24. Taylor Decker (Ohio State)
2 of 25Decker de-committed from Notre Dame and switched to Ohio State officially in the middle of this month. He's 6'8", 280 pounds and will likely be an OT.
23. Erik Magnuson (Michigan)
3 of 25No change here; Magnuson is headed for Michigan. He hasn't wavered or tilted or slipped or nothing. He's all set.
22. John McGee (Oklahoma)
4 of 25The Sooners are beefing up their OL front, and McGee is part of the incoming trio of top 25 OLs. He can play OC or OG in Norman.
21. J.J. Denman (Rutgers)
5 of 25Denman has been a bit of a saga, as he is now pledged to Rutgers, but he could bolt again since the coaching change. Penn State, Wisconsin and Pitt have been in the mix in the past.
20. Dan Voltz (Wisconsin)
6 of 25Wisconsin has had Voltz locked up for quite some time. He fits their program perfectly as a 6'4", 290-pound OG. He'll be a starter for the Badgers soon enough.
19. Ty Darlington (Oklahoma)
7 of 25Darlington's headed for Norman. No waverieng, not much change. He's a bit underrated in my opinion, and I think he'll be a great swing guy in college.
18. Vadal Alexander (LSU)
8 of 25Alexander pledged to LSU in October and hasn't looked back since. He's a 6'6", 310-pounder that could play either OT or OG in Baton Rouge.
17. Ronnie Stanley (Notre Dame)
9 of 256'6," 285 pounds, Stanley has the ability to play left and right tackle. He's committed to Notre Dame and has been so since December.
16. Evan Boehm (Missouri)
10 of 25Boehm wavered a bit in his pledge to Missouri, but he's now solid. He'll likely play OC for the Tigers and stands 6'3", 290 pounds. He could be an early impact guy in the pivot.
15. Max Tuerk (USC)
11 of 25Tuerk is a 6'4", 290-pound OL that plays with solid agression and with good strength. He's tough and powerful to which I think he could play OG for Lane Kiffin.
14. Michael Starts (Texas Tech)
12 of 25Starts is headed to Texas Tech. He's 6'5", 275 pounds and can play either DL or OL. Tommy Tuberville will figure where he fits best for the Red Raiders, and he'll excel.
13. Zach Banner (USC)
13 of 25UPDATE: Banner committed to USC.
Banner's latest is that he appears to be down to USC and Washington. He will announce on NSD. B/R will have the coverage when the news breaks on Wednesday; be here for it.
12. Jordan Simmons (USC)
14 of 25Simmons is locked into his USC pledge. He's not bolting for anywhere else. Nothing's changed with him.
11. Brock Stadnik (South Carolina)
15 of 256'5," 290 pounds, Stadnik has very good technique and can drive block very, very well. He'll likely play OT in college, which will be South Carolina.
10. Kennedy Estelle (Texas)
16 of 25Not much change for Estelle, as the 6'7", 305-pounder is set for Texas. I'm anxious to see how his career develops in Austin.
9. Kyle Murphy (Stanford)
17 of 25UPDATE: Committed to Stanford.
The latest on Murphy is that it seems like it's an USC vs. Stanford race. I think even though Murphy is a SoCal native, he'll sign with the Cardinal on Wednesday.
8. Jordan Diamond (Uncommitted)
18 of 25Diamond's latest is that he has eliminated Ohio State. Auburn, Michigan and Wisconsin are still in the race. He won't make his choice until the third of February.
7. Kyle Kalis (Michigan)
19 of 25No change here to Kalis' trakcer. He's loaded up for Ann Arbor and will sign his LOI and fax it to Brady Hoke on Wednesday. He's set in stone.
6. Jessamen Dunker (Florida)
20 of 25Dunker has a big time ceiling, as he's 6'6", 310 pounds and can move like a WR. He's raw, but Florida coaches will season him up just right.
5. Avery Young (Auburn)
21 of 25UPDATE: Young has just committed to Auburn on ESPNU.
The latest on Young is that he really liked his Miami trip and is also digging Auburn, Florida and Georgia. He likely will pick on NSD.
3. John Theus (Georgia)
23 of 25Theus is a 6'6", 295-pound mauler of an OT that can flip between RT and OT. He has a chance to leave Athens as one of the best OLs to ever play for UGA.
2. D.J. Humphries (Florida)
24 of 25Humphries is a 6'6", 270-pound OT that has a fantastic looking frame and even better athleticism. He has a chance to develop into an NFL LT at Florida.
1. Andrus Peat (Stanford)
25 of 25UPDATE: Peat has committed to Stanford.
It looks like this is a Nebraska vs. Stanford vs. USC fight for Peat. He likely will choose on NSD and become a great LT wherever he winds up.
