NHL All-Star Skills: Rangers Carl Hagelin Wins Fastest Skater Competition
Carl Hagelin's rookie season just keeps getting better.
The first-year forward for the New York Rangers, who played four years at the University of Michigan, has won the Fastest Skater competition at the NHL All-Star Skills Challenge in Ottawa for Team Alfredsson on Saturday at Scotiabank Place in Kanata, Ont.
Hagelin completed the circuit in 13.218 seconds in the final round against Ottawa's Colin Greening (13.303), who himself played four years at Cornell University before turning pro last season.

"If the hockey world didn't now Carl Hagelin was a fast skater, they know it now," said Rangers teammate Henrik Lundqvist, also an NHL All-Star this weekend, on Twitter.
Hagelin helped the Wolverines to two NCAA Frozen Fours, including the 2011 national championship game, in his career, where he recorded 61 goals and 91 assists for 152 points.
A native of Sodertalje, Sweden, Hagelin made his professional debut last spring in the playoffs with Connecticut (AHL), where he also began the 2011-12 regular-season campaign before being summoned to Manhattan.
Hagelin, 23, has posted 8-8—16 points in 29 NHL games to date with the Rangers, who will return to regular-season action on Tuesday night against the New Jersey Devils.
