National Signing Day 2012: The Top 10 Set-in-Stone Commitments
We've done several pieces about wavering recruits and de-commitments. Now it's time to see whose commitments are set in stone.
We forget a lot of the time that these recruits making commitments are just verbally agreeing to attend a certain school. They can change their minds at any time until they sign a letter of intent.
However, the recruits on this list don't seem to be wavering or mulling anything over. Here are 10 commitments that look to be set.
10. Duke Johnson (Miami)
1 of 10Johnson is committed to Miami, and if he hasn't de-committed since the Nevin Shapiro scandal broke, then he's set. He's from the area, is a Hurricane fan and Miami is his dream school.
Johnson is a lock to head to Coral Gables.
9. Mario Edwards (Florida State)
2 of 10Edwards took a trip to LSU, spent the visit with the Honeybadger and had a good time.
Yep. He sure did.
Then he re-committed to Florida State the next day. If you have a great trip at one school and commit to another soon after, your pledge is pretty solid.
8. Eugene Lewis (Penn State)
3 of 10Even after the scandal broke and JoePa's firing, Lewis has remained loyal to Penn State.
Why? you ask?
Because he's a Penn State fan. His commitment is loaded and locked and he's signing up happily to go to Happy Valley on Wednesday.
7. Ishamel Adams (UCLA)
4 of 10Adams is strong to UCLA and has started helping with the Bruins' recruiting efforts. If you're recruiting for a school, chances are you're not going anywhere from the class. Period. His pledge is golden.
6. Jordan Simmons (USC)
5 of 10Simmons will tell anybody he's set for USC and has even been helping recruit other players to Troy. Just click the link and you'll see for yourself...
5. Isaac Seumalo (Oregon State)
6 of 10USC came on strong for Seumalo, but when your brother is a lineman at Oregon State and your father just happens to be the DL coach for Oregon State, you end up at Oregon State.
4. Reggie Ragland (Alabama)
7 of 10I've never heard a sniff of any wavering from Ragland's camp and I also have him on this list because I think he realizes what a great fit he is in Alabama's 3-4 base defense as an inside linebacker.
He's rolling with the Tide, no doubt.
3. Johnathan Gray (Texas)
8 of 10Gray's not going anywhere. He's going to Texas, has not wavered a bit and I just get the sense he's stoked about being a Longhorn.
I'd turn bright pink if he signs anywhere other than with Mack Brown on Wednesday.
That's how much of a lock his commitment has been during the process.
2. Matt Davis (Texas A&M)
9 of 10First of all, Davis had a chance to look around when the Aggies fired Mike Sherman, but he never really seemed to do so. As a QB, you know he digs the idea of playing in Kevin Sumlin's offense too.
Oh, right, plus he's pretty much already enrolled at A&M and will be ready for spring ball. I don't think he plans on de-committing.
1. Gunner Kiel (Notre Dame)
10 of 10Kiel is already at Notre Dame, as an early enrollee. His uncle Blair played there, he's from Indiana and is all Irish, folks. Sure, he flipped twice from Indiana and LSU, but Kiel's locked and set in stone at Notre Dame. Book it.
