Alabama Football Recruiting: Crimson Tide Class Has Nowhere to Go but Down
The 2012 Alabama recruiting class is the currently the best in the entire nation. Should nobody flip at the last minute on signing day, there is little dispute and even ESPN, Scout and Sporting News agree.
But with 27 recruits already committed, there really isn't much room for improvement.
The Tide are technically still in the hunt for Eddie Goldman and have made a late push for Jameis Winston, but it would be surprising if either of them chose the Tide at this late hour.
For all intents and purposes, Nick Saban and his staff are done.
And when a program is at the top, the Alabama is, the only way they can is straight or down.
Of their 27 commits, the Tide have 12 ESPU 150 prospects including two 5-star commits.
Sporting News gives them six of their top 125 prospects and Scout gives them six of their top 100 including three 5-star commits.
The Tide's class is about as complete as it gets and has the necessary reinforcements to help reboot a secondary that lost three starters to the NFL this year alone.
They have 13 offensive commits, 13 defensive commits and one special teamer.
Nick Saban and his staff have built a class so talented that they don't even need to land Eddie Goldman to have the best recruiting class in the nation.
That isn't going to stop them from trying, but they've already done their damage.
When National Signing Day hits next Wednesday, the only way the Tide are going to move is if they drop—but I wouldn't count on that happening either.
