National Signing Day 2012: Which Top Recruiting Classes Will Lose?
Every year at the end of National Signing Day, there are programs that come out feeling like a million bucks and other programs that feel broke and cheap.
This year will be no different.
Today, I'm going to preview those teams that could wake up after next Wednesday feeling like the latter. These are the top programs and recruiting classes that could lose on NSD.
5. USC
1 of 5The Trojans could very well end up losers on NSD for several reasons. They'll only sign about 15 players due to sanctions, so that's a downer.
Toss in the fact that it's pretty certain they will lose both players with the last name "Armstead" that were in the Trojan mix.
Armond is transferring and will likely join his brother, Arik (via Scout.com). The younger Armstead de-committed several months ago and the Trojans are almost out of it (via ESPN).
4. Cal
2 of 5Cal was hot a few weeks ago, landing players like Shaq Thompson, Ellis McCarthy and Jordan Payton. Now, that may not be the case (via Scout.com).
Even Bryce Treggs is looking around, according to Scout.com.
There is a serious chance Cal could see Treggs, Payton, Thompson and even Arik Armstead sign with other schools.
3. Washington
3 of 5Even though Washington could be the beneficiary of Cal's crumble with several prospects, I still have them down as a potential NSD loser.
Why, you ask?
Well, because they are probably going to lose the top players in their state, that's why.
Josh Garnett has Stanford and Michigan on top and will likely announce in a couple minutes (via Scout.com), and Zach Banner is down to Oklahoma, USC and Washington (via Scout).
2. Rutgers
4 of 5Wow, Piscataway is rockin' right now with the shocking news of Greg Schiano leaving for Tampa Bay (via ESPN). That could cost them prospects like Darius Hamilton and Leonte Carroo.
Plus, wouldn't you think that interim head coach Kyle Flood would be answering more questions about Schiano's departure than on the recruiting class, according to ESPN, on NSD?
That's not too coo,l and the reason why I have Rutgers down as a potential signing day loser.
1. Whoever Doesn't Land Dorial Green-Beckham
5 of 5So next Wednesday, four programs are going to walk away a tad disappointed when they learn DGB has signed with another school.
Alabama, Texas and even Oklahoma will feel a sting, but all of them have great recruiting classes to fall back on.
But Arkansas and Missouri are letting it ride on landing DGB, and somebody's going to lose out. Who will it be?
