Kentucky vs. Georgia: TV Schedule, Live Stream, Spread Info and More

Eric BowmanJun 7, 2018

The Georgia Bulldogs hope to get their second SEC win of the season when they host the No. 1-ranked Kentucky Wildcats Tuesday night.

It's a rough start for the Bulldogs this year, trying to rebound after losing their best two players to the NBA draft last season.

Currently, the Bulldogs are 10-9 and 1-4 in SEC play. The lone conference victory came last week in an overtime thriller against Tennessee.

Kentucky, on the other hand, is 19-1 on the year and 5-0 in SEC play. They're hoping extend their 11-game win streak and to get revenge for the last time they made the trip to Athens.

Granted, the Wildcats roster has been changed some because of lost players, but it's no secret that they've still got plenty of talent and will want to make sure they avoid losing a conference road game.

Kentucky has trailed in the second half of SEC road games, so the Bulldogs aren't completely out of it.

That being said, let's take a look at some specifics of this SEC showdown.

When: Tuesday, Jan. 24 at 9:00 p.m. ET

Where: Stegeman Coliseum, Athens, Ga.

Watch: ESPN, ESPN3.com

Betting Line: Kentucky (-12)

What They're Saying

Chip Towers covers Georgia sports for the Atlanta Journal Constitution, and he tweeted some recent issues the Bulldogs have been having.

Georgia has only won one of its last five games, so they could really use a win. Unfortunately, the Bulldogs haven't been playing well enough for anyone to believe they can pull off the major upset.

The Bulldogs averages 61.9 points per game, and the Wildcats average 79.5 points per game. Georgia knows it has to step up and play its best game of the year; otherwise, it will be a long night.

Jerry Tipton covers the Wildcats for Kentucky.com, and he tweeted a favorable stat for Kentucky.

The odds continue to stack against Georgia, but playing in front of the home crowd will be beneficial to this young team.

The Wildcats haven't been the No. 1 overall team for very long, so the key for them will be ignoring that stat about Georgia and focusing on executing at a high level. Getting too cocky will be a major downfall for Kentucky on the road.

Kentucky Player to Watch

Terrence Jones stepped up big-time for Kentucky as a freshman last year against Georgia, but the Wildcats came up short.

Seeing as how Jones dominated against a much better Georgia team a year ago (24 points, 10 rebounds in Athens), the same should easily happen again on Tuesday night.

Jones is currently averaging 11.9 points per game this season, but in the last five games, he's averaged 14 points per game. The Wildcats need him to thrive against the Bulldogs in order to ensure an easy victory.

Georgia Player to Watch

Kentavious Caldwell-Pope is typically always the Georgia player to watch. He leads the Bulldogs in scoring, averaging 14.7 points per game.

When Caldwell-Pope is on, Georgia has a great chance to win, as he is a fantastic shooter. However, he's just a freshman, so handling the spotlight isn't easy for him.

The Bulldogs will need Caldwell-Pope to play his best game yet, because if he doesn't, the Wildcats will win a blowout.

Key Matchup

If Georgia can win down low, then the chances of them pulling off the mighty upset greatly increase. It won't be easy, though, as the Wildcats have a much greater size advantage over the Bulldogs.

Rebounding will be key for the Bulldogs because Kentucky is far better at crashing the boards than Georgia. This means guys like Caldwell-Pope, Donte Williams, Nemanja Djurisic and Gerald Robinson all have to step up.

Allowing Kentucky second or third chances on offense will doom the Bulldogs, which is why they have to make sure they secure the loose ball.

Prediction

Thanks to a pumped-up crowd and extra motivation to take down No. 1, the Bulldogs will make a game out of this.

Unfortunately, it will only be for the first half. After halftime, the Wildcats will make their necessary adjustments and run away with this game with little to no trouble.

Kentucky 77, Georgia 61
